There's an interesting theory in Hoori's post on the previous page, but I have a contention with a point raised there. Agreed, that AA is willing to come across as the bad cop for the sake of the bigger picture and the club. But I don't agree at all, that this was done because of the next big investment we'd be making. Like Hoori said, it was a decision we made in November, a gamble, not knowing we'd be here today. We could've ended up out of a CL place again, and that wouldve meant no star signing. Whther for the lack of funds or the lack of being an attractive option to top talent. The reason for Del Piero's ouster could be many. Irrespective, even if I'm willing to grant Andrea the fact that he did it for the good of the club, and Ale, in the long run - I will always grudge him for the way he handled the situation. The fact of the matter is, that Alex will be remembered much longer than AA, and he only deserved the dignity of leaving the club, if not on his own terms, then in a more graceful way that heralded his contribution to our history. I don't mean the club needed to give him a trophy after every game, I just mean that AA and ADP sat across the press and Juve fans and expressed this to have been a mutual decision, that too at the end of the season just so that everybody knew and didn't debate this to the extent we did. It was not too much to ask for. As a fan of the club, and as a fan of the player.
This should've never been a talking point on the biggest day we've had after 6 long years of turmoil. But it was. Andrea Agnelli is to be blamed for that. Not us.
Hindsight is 20/20, and its hard to keep perspective right now, but I have aligned myself to the fact that there could've been no better send off for Alex than have him lift our 30th title after scoring a goal in his last game in front of his home crowd, and follow that up by playing one last time in the Coppa italia final. It couldn't have been a more fairy tale ending.
What hurts is, that our very own President, a man that was seemingly close to the club, didn't script this ending. Fortunately for him, and everybody involved, a Scudetto title did.
