Yes Crouch is not a goalkeeper, the best feat in his entire carrier was breaking a header record...
He is a very limited mediocre/poor finisher, but nothing but a finisher...

And yes Dzeko in some injury free seasons with Wolfsburg has managed to score 22-26 league goals/season,
whilst Manzdukic has only managed to get 12-18 league goals in Wolfsburg and Bayern, thats quite the difference between the average finisher and the great one.
Yes they are both has beens and never will be again, but to reach 26 league goals in 32 league games, really does make a point and then score again 22 next year shows it wasnt random.

The idea is not about the current form, of those players, i had to use them as examples everyone will know to explain the type of player that can get those numbers.
The essence of what i am saying lies on those numbers. A good finisher is able to convert at least one goal for at least every two matches he is playing, thats what really matters, he ought to be prolific enough and with consistency.
In the long run, what takes apart the great ones from the average ones is how often they can score more than one goal every two games. Messi and C. Ronaldo score more than one per game.
Even 1/1 would be an insane demand, but average of 18 league goals per season, at least and an ocassional Capocannoniere season, is what we should be aiming for!
That was the Trezequet standars we are still chasing, someone who could compete for the Capocannoniere title with consistency and occassionally win it!

The 8 goals Morata has scored with us last season, just doesnt cut it...
8-12 goals is the average of SSs and CMs like Vidal, without any disregard to Morata and his overall quality, since Dybala will be our undisputed starter forward, who is a great SS, specialised at creating,
he need to be complemented with a forward who brings the numbers.
He could improve of course but Berardi can too and he already is in the 15-16 serie A goals tier, Immobile has shown that promise when he has scored those 22, Morata has kind of failed that in those 2 years.

Zaza as Sassuolo score 9-11, we have a typical nose for those 8-12 ones and are typically failing to get those consistent 16-19 ones, we should.

Zdeko has had 1 20 goal season in all competitions in the last 6 years.


Mandzukic has had 3 straight 20 goal seasons, and is on pace for another one this year.

The only "Has Been" out of the 2 appears to be Dzeko


And having a Capocannionere does not guarantee success. In fact, in the past 10 seasons only one team that has had the leading goal scorer has gone on to win Serie A, and that was Inter in 2008-09. You have to go back another 5 years before that with Schevchenko and Milan.

Stop me if I am wrong here, but didn't we just have Tevez for the past two seasons, who had 19 and 20 goals just in Serie A alone?


We have Dybala now who is on pace for 20, and does it really matter if it is from the SS or a CF where those 20 goal seasons come form? Were you complaining when DelPiero and Baggio had 20 goal seasons for this club?

If Allegri wants to rotate through strikers who all score in that goal/150-175 minute area, that's perfectly fine with me. That works out to 18-20 goals over the course of a full Serie A season of 3000 minutes, which is what a top forward plays in the league if they go through the season injury free.

You have to take those things into account. As long as we're getting a goal every 150 minutes or thereabouts from our CF, than it's irrelevant whether 1 player is scoring them, or we're platooning our CFs and doing a by-committee type thing.

Morata is having a horrendous year at a goal every 400 minutes for us.

Add to this that Dybala is scoring a goal every 133 minutes for us, and we're doing amazingly well in the forwards scoring department.

Our forwards have 31 goals combined in half a season in all competitions. That's not shabby at all.

Truth to be told i don't think his overall play was better last season, he just had goals so everyone was happy. Now that the goals are gone it's clearly visible that he's a limited player.
