The thing that set us apart from the other teams this year were our wingbacks. So if anyone says "he's just a left back" thats simply the biggest understatement you could make.
Sadly though, after watching the final, any player who isn't emotionally invested in Juventus would want to leave. IF there was ever a time our tactics hit full stride and everything was working for us, it was this year. Next year just seems like such a mountain to climb in Europe whereas the league and coppa are not going to be such a big incentive for a player like Sandro who's already won it two years on the trot.
After our loss, we should have made big statements of intent to reinforce our squad in order to rebuild the enthusiasm and morale of our players. Instead we began our mercato quietly and with incoming offers our players began jumping ship. Marotta has been great at rebuilding this squad but I fear he doesn't have what it takes to keep our stars like other clubs do. I hope I'm proven wrong by the end of this mercato but its looking depressing AF.
