Alex will be way way way better than Bonucci and he's not in any way inferior to Lugano. Considering we need to buy a winger, we can't target strong young prospects like Subotic and Hummels. So, Alex-Chiellini will form a great partnership, till that Bonucci learn the basics of defence. If Bonucci doesn't improve, sell him and get a better young one.

Can't believe I'm defending Alex. Few hours ago all was fapping and dreaming.

According to the Chelsea forums, they'd rather David Luiz start ahead of him, because Alex makes a lot of mistakes.

Alex's so called "mistake" against West Brom was no mistake at all. Did you guys see the pass that he was supposed to receive? That was the true error. The attempted pass to Alex was instead a direct pass to the West Brom player, and it left Alex with a huge disadvantage, which the West Brom player took advantage of and scored.

Some may argue that Alex should have been more alert to the pass, but the way I see it, the pass had way too much power.

really? alex in the top 10? seriously i rate the likes of juan higher than him, alex is good, but not THAT good, and is by no means great, unfortunately i think many here still think he's playing at the same level as he did at psv when he was excellent, but tbh he is only a mere upgrade to bonucci, but not really what we need in terms of his lack of leadership qualities in the backline which is what we sorely lack more than anything.

I have seen a lot of him, he is a solid defender. He likes to get forward as well, when we are getting smashed on the counter I would much rather him than Lugano for example. His head was somewhere else today, he made on mistake, it happens. I would hardly say he is mistake prone..
