I was trying to make a point that we were once a team that can score 4 goals passed on other continental super house(or our worthy rivals) with zizou playing a decisive role.

Yeah, I know all that, it still doesn't change the statement I made; Zidane was a player that peaked for 10 years. I didn't try to undermine Diego or anything, like I said, I love the guy, but to me, Zidane is the greatest footballer ever.

To me Diego will always have the minus of never making it in a big European club, same with Pele. The things with Napoli are wonderous and awe inspiring, but if you ask me, carrying the biggest European clubs to success your whole career, caries even more weight. Diego was/is a God in Napoli, but like I said, it's a club that got the best out of him, exactly because of that pressure, or lack of. That's something important if you ask me.

What is your point? Diego could do stuff Zidane couldn't? Yeah, true, Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo could do stuff Zizou couldn't, that don't make 'em better players in my book.

Don't shot me folks but I saw them both play and they were both easily the best of their generations. To judge who is best by how many trophies they won would open up a can of worms, as I am sure there are players out there who have won more than them.

Both did carry their respective teams to World Cup glory, but to claim the Argentina team was significantly worse than the French is a falsehood. To claim that Diego was significantly more skilful also, because their skills were in different compartments.


Both were truly great and I feel lucky to have seen them play.

But OK; I wasn't at all comparing the two Scudetto's won as they are two completelly different scenarios, with Napoli naturally being a more impressing feat. When I said Zidane won two Scudettos with Juve, it was merely to amplify the achievement, as in that time Serie A was hands down the most demanding league in the world...and at the same time he was in two CL finals. It was all there in the initial post, I surely did not say "Diego won two Scudetti with Napoli, so what, Zizou won them with Juve". You made that.


So what if I admit he was more skilled? I already implied I don't think being more skilled means someone is a better footballer. If that were the case, Ricardo Quaresma would be one of the best footballers right now.

well that is exactly the point Diego is the better footballer and by far at that, skills and vision and by skills i dont mean tricks, thats a big difference. Diego is the complete package, he can do it all and i still cant believe i am even arguing this it's really plain and simple to see.

I always thought it was plain and simple to see too. To be honest this is the first time i see this much people convinced that Zidane is as good as Maradona.

Also, i have to disagree with your point about proving yourself at a big club V. What Maradona did at Napoli was much more impressive than making it at a big club. This is not like when a player excels at small clubs but can't replicate the same at a big cub. Maradona transformed Napoli, he made them a big club at that time. Something i'm afraid Zidane hasn't proven he's capable of doing, which is not wrong, nobody has done it other than Maradona.

Also that clip Deneb posted is also very telling. I think Zidane himself doesn't believe he holds a candle to Diego.
