Personally I think 32 teams is too much for a decent world cup and to be honest too many teams are there that i would rather not watch and I am sure its the same for a lot of people.
If you had the choice of how many teams you would want in a world cup tournament, how many teams would you like to see and whice countries would you like to be there.

I think i will pick 24 teams and they would be

Brazil
Argentina
Italy
Germany
England
France
Portugal
Holland
Spain
Nigeria
Cameroun
Cote D'voire
South Korea
Mexico
Usa
Australia
Denmark
Chile
Sweden
Ukraine (only cos of sheva)
Jamaica (to add colour)
Japan
Uruguay (cos they have won it before0
czech republic

I don't mind the number of teams but I do mind the distribution from each continent. I call for more from Europe and Africa and less from other continents.

16 teams from Europe, 3 from South America, 2 from Concacaf, 7 from Africa, 2 from Asia and 2 more tickets to be fought for from Oceania, Asia, South America and Concacaf.

I don't know, Jack. For a UEFA home tournament, so far the CONMEBOL and CONCACAF reps are proving they belong.

To me it's less about the number of teams and more about which teams it is. For instane I would drop England, I have no interest in them and I rarely watch them. Your list is fine, though, all the "missing" teams are there.

I like the current format, that oddly enough hasn't been screwed and destroyed like the CL.
Just give it time. As long as Sepp Blather is at the helm, nothing is safe. :shifty:

:disagree: . i just cant seem to think of the 7 and the 16 african and european teams that deserve to be there more than Uruguay or Colombia? i think they should make 5 spots for SA and 1 less for asia or africa

I like the current system.this let the little unknown teams have the chance to qualify and it also makes a better guarantee for big teams not to disqualify due to bad luck or something.world cup is the most important football matter that takes place every 4 years.I agree that there are many teams who most of ppl would rather not watch but I actually like it.it's such an honor for ppl from these little countries to see their NT playing in the same cup that Brasil and Italia are in.every thing is stopped in these countries when their NTs are in the world cup and it's the best thing 'bout it.this is WORLD cup and all ppl, from Brasilians to Iraninas should have the chance to see their NT there.tonight,we'll see the Portugal-Angola and you see the story behind it.Angola had been one of Portugals colonies and now, after many years, this lovely WORLD cup let these Africans to play against their ex-masters !
you may prefer another team instead of Angola, but you'd never understand an Angolaian's feelings who will have one of the most exciting moments of his life tonight.
no matter who wins the title, for me this cup means alot and it's not only about football.World Cup doesn't mean a cup that is made up of football teams for me.it's a cup that's made up of different culturs and those little teams(who you would rather not watch)makes this important ability for the world cup.

I see something seriously wrong with this list. First of all, all the teams on the list are teams who've made a name for themselves. Secondly, this would prevent a suprise winner, such as Greece and Denmark in the Euro's; suprise runs by Senegal, Turkey, and S.Korea in the last WC. Even though some of the latter teams mentioned are on the list, other unknown football "powers" out there won't be given a chance. Including a team because of one player is, no offense, pathetic; why wouldn't you include Iran because of Karimi, Mahdavikia, or Norway because of Riise and Carew, etc. I know they're not as exciting, but that policy is very vague and manipulatable.

+ what Hoori said :D

the reason of the 32 teams it's because is a WC!
How a WC can have 16 teams?
The whole "idea" of this WC is the NT that win it will be the best of the world
