Kop tell Juve: £16m for Xabi

    By PHIL THOMAS

LIVERPOOL have slapped a huge £16million price tag on Juventus target Xabi Alonso.

The Italians had director general Jean-Claude Blanc in Merseyside yesterday to try and broker a deal for the 26-year-old Spanish midfielder.

But the Anfield club will not do business unless Juve meet their asking price.

And if they fail to tempt Aston Villa into selling Gareth Barry, they will knock the deal on the head entirely.

A famous Liverpool name is back on the club’s books after striker THOMAS INCE — the 16-year-old son of Paul — joined as a first-year academy trainee.

The undermentioned comment, cut and pasted from the Red and White Kop Liverpool fansite, is typical on a thread about the rumours surrounding Xabi

Good news, although I am still not convinced he will stay..If Barry does come to Liverpool I think it will be the end of Xabi's career with us...I dont want it to be, off form or not, i still think he a fantastic midfielder and we will miss him on the pitch.

honestly i think 20 mio are too much for alonso. no one knows how he will adapt to serie a and for 20 mio, i'd let my hands off from him. Let's focus on other championships as the EPL because the prices there are insane. Alonso may be good and all, but for 20 mio you can have some other very interesting players (nasri?! aquilani maybe?!)

It's not just the 20 million. He wants 4 million/season. Del Piero doesn't get that

for 4 mio/season, i'd prefer NOT buying him. IMO, we should not start these kind of silly overpaying the way milan are doing it. They obviously have other reasons, but they also have a different amount of money. Let's face it, alonso will most probably not be that one key-player. let's hold this huge amount of money for someone else. At this very moment, i even doubt he will be better than tiago - not because he isn't technically better than tiago, but it's just the way our new CM will adapt to serie a. That's why i'd keep those 4 mio for someone else.

keita is far more better than alonso...wake up secco!
In what position does this Keita plays?
I saw a video of him on youtube and he doesn`t look like a defensive midfielder or a central one
He seems like an attacking midfielder or a winger
I have got to admit this guy has talent altough he is a bit selfish

You two are talking about different Keita's. Your talking about Abdul Kader Keita, Lyon's winger. He is talking about Seydou Keita, Sevilla central midfielder.
