I agree with you mostly, up until you said Christian Vieri. IMO he's not in the same league as the other players you mentioned.

I'd say Del Piero. Henry's great, but DP is truly, truly talented in my opinion. And though not as good as he was, Del Piero still plays a vital role in Juve, still contributes, and still makes a change in the Juventus team. It's not common to find players like these. Henry probably does the same, but what's different is that after all the injuries DP went through he's still going and has the same effect.. would Henry be able to do that?

DP hasn't been that impressive lately though, whereas Henry is one of the most on-form players in the World at the moment!

Confidence is a huge thing in sports and in football in particular
Ask any forward or striker and they would tell you everything is about confidence

Henry is ultra confident and is playing at his peak as he is helped along the way by a brilliant Arsenal side and wonderful French team who play to his strenghts

He is in a league where spaces are given for him to totally enjoy himself

If Henry was doing all this in Italy, i would put ahead of anyone but I am sorry watchin him score 4 goals against Leeds and before then sucking big time against Chelsea twice in a big game like Cl says all about him

Its one thing running against Duberry and Hyypiia or Biscan its quite another facing Stam one week then Maldini and Nesta and then Cannavaro and players like Materrazzi who wanna just kick you

Its also another thing playing in front of Pires, cole, Bergkamp and players who play the perfect ball to you, its quite another lumping the ball from defence or trying to guess where Appiah would play the ball

They are both wonderful players but Dp is more talented and Henry has exploited his talents to the full something Dp cannot do in Italy

Maybe like Dicanio he would come to England and show doubters of his true worth

well if we are talking about curently well as much as i love del piero i would agree that henry is doing really good but del piero history goes back and if not for his stupid injury we might not even have these problems...

quite a few people have said that Henry will not do as well in Serie A. That is however conjecture - he was never given the chances DP had at Juventus, being bought to replace DP when he was out for the rest of the season. What needs to be said though is that Henry has destroyed Roma and Inter Milan on their home grounds in recent seasons and neither were playing charitable defence like most of us would like to believe on those CL nights.

we should give credit when its due and also recognise failures when they happen. DP has choked on the big stage too frequently - a critic has said he is now good only for scoring against the likes of Ancona and Modena. The 1998 World Cup, the CL final against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and the one last year against AC Milan come to mind as occasions where he was totally oblivious, not able to make an impact at all. A truly great player would have taken the game by the scruff of the neck. lets be ture to the fact that DP has so rarely lived up to his potential and that talent alone does not mean anything in terms of exceling in any field. A Baggio fan and friend of mine had all too often poked fun at his amusing errors on the field such as kicking the ball behind the goal by a good 10 yards on his first piece of action during the 1998 World Cup. The one thing that DP does have is charisma, otherwise most of us would label him as a one-season wonder. Apologies to DP fans if I do sound too harsh, but I am concerned about how DP can help to lift the club that I have supported for the last 21 years out of its current spiral.

i think the biggest mistake ever was not giving henry enough time
no one could adapt that easily to a team and at first it is very hard to beat the serie a defence
if he stayed longer no doubt juventus would have been brining home more goals and more championship..

well me thinks henry wouldnt of really exploed here in italy. and no one could predict he would be a super star..he was a gamble. and when he was at juve, everyone was still saying how rubbish he was when he played. so u cant blame us for selling him

Blah blah blah Henry tore down Roma or Inter I'll give you credit for that, but trust me a striker in EPL and in Serie A is two different things. Put Henry in Italy for two months and he'd probably die getting his legs broken or something.

But yes, he is a good player and that I admit, but Del Piero IMO has been in harsher environments and has dealth with harsher realities and has higher expectations and even through all that jazz he still manages to keep himself in tact, let's not forget that although he wasn't what he used to be, despite all those he STILL contributes to Juve and football in general and that's saying something. You can feel the difference when Alex Del Piero is present on the field.

Del Piero, is truly, truly talented and gifted IMO, which is why I think he's better. A true gift.

And lets not kid ourselves about the excellent defence of the Serie A clubs. Has anyone checked the number of goals they conceded this season in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup? Does that stand out vis a vis other countries? The answer is NO. We should stop making excuses such as Serie A is toughest and therefore DP's lack of success on the field should be excused. The best stand up to the toughest scrutiny. Italian soccer players are no exception and we as their fans need to believe in that in order for Serie A to regain its past glory. Stop living in the past period.

One more thing - statistically, DP pales in comparison to Henry. Lets use facts rather than convictions. Henry has scored more goals and has had more assists. More importantly, he has had more successful seasons than DP has ever had. DP has at most 3 successful seasons and he is 29, meaning a failure rate of 60-70%, injuries or no injuries. You cannot excuse a Ferrari's engine faults even if it is POTENTIALLY the fastest car in the world. Once again, potential means ZILCH if you do not perform.

...its you that are kidding yourself if you cant admit that. The Serie A defences in Italy are far better than any place else!!!, its much harder to be a striker here. Look at striker who has gone from Italy to Spain for instanse.....and see how much more goals they have scored, wait and see Trezeguet too!

...this is just incredible to say! look at what Del Piero have achieved with Juve! it speaks for itself! and he has been a major factor in the success even if you see it or not!
