Spot any bodies there?
Marteeeeen!

Couple days and it will be knocking, but I’ll take a big storm over wildlife smoke any day
Says the former fire jumper. I'll take it.

Went out to a club for the first time since forever with my gf and her friends. I really wanted to get with one of those chicks.

Idk I'm ready to get married. I'm too horny for other chicas
And you think you're the only one where that happens? :D

Dis what young women have been reading in London
Sharons need an excuse to stop shaving and start manspreading.

Greggo! Still like in .pt buddy?
Yep. It's really cut into my opportunities to get into fights over masks and to duct taping suicidal passengers on airplanes, but I'm still good with it here. :D

Still Quayside in the Big Penal Colony? (Even moreso now with border controls I suppose.)

Today is a great day. A big day. My dad got something on his skin, which looked like dermatitis, and two months ago he was sent to a doctor do diagnose it. It came as a shock when I heard it's something out of three potential diseases of which one is cancer. All three of those look exactly the same so biopsy was needed to be done. After two months of hell, physical terror of waiting, troubles with the medical system & administration, results came to say it's not cancer. It's such a huge relief since I can't say I didn't have negative thoughts, and it was a big pain and burden to hold. I've got a headache today but who cares.

On a smaller note, I got a call today for an interview to work in a book store. The only positive thing there is how they have books and possibly a big discount. I think conditions are miserable and wages are less than 400e/month which is beyond horrible and pathetic. But I'm so exhausted I can't even think about it now.

I'll be going to LA next month and I'm taking a side trip to Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara. Any favorites for Pinot's or Syrahs there, other than the Hitching Post from Sideways?
The Hitching Post is a blast. Good steaks. And great wine list.

I really enjoyed going there a few years ago.

Wes Hagen used to do an amazing, educational, personal tour at Clos Pepe ... he's the head winemaker at J Wilkes (https://www.jwilkes.com/) / Miller Family (https://www.millerfamilywines.com/) now. I don't know if they're any good, but if he's involved I am sure they are.

Also a fan of Loring https://www.loringwinecompany.com/
Melville https://melvillewinery.com/
Babcock https://babcockwinery.com/

I was a longtime member of Sea Smoke, but they never took visitors from what I recall

Thanks - I will definitely hit up as many of those I can. I'm familiar with Sea Smoke and I'll be sure to at least have a bottle or two.

Hopefully they don’t shut down the state before I get there. I’m going to try to stuff as many bottles as possible into my checked luggage.
Well done, sir. My lesson? The best time to plan a trip for a place is when it is a raging Covid mess. So by the time you arrive, it's in recovery.

I just looked at my pocket database, and I still have a mixed case of Southing and TEN from 2012-2014 sitting in my wine storage locker near SF. Will have to drink it all when I come back to the US for two months in November. :D

FWIW, I scheduled my summer travels for November, because you simply cannot plan on visiting California before then without the risk of it being entirely on fire and the creeping death of hell's smoke and ash everywhere. Ahh, the climate and Covid timing of it all...

So far so good around the LA area and NW. Most of the fires are in the north so hope that continues. When I was there a few years ago for vacation and a concert they just put out the fires north of Burbank, so I got a little lucky going in October.

Love it! I can't tell you how many times I've reminisced about that vacation in portu. I miss it often. Wife's been there too, separately, and we both wanna go again. One day.

Oh yes, there is no leaving now. Just keep on buying coffee and avocado here on out until forever.

Just this morning I had one of those great, simple Portugal moments. The morning light is beautiful. The streets are unique out my balcony. Weathered and a little dirty, but they still carry so much charm regardless. Meanwhile, one of the many attractive Lisboeta women stylishly walks by, wearing a typical ensemble of a pretty floral summer dress and Converse trainers ... because they're so practical on the punishing calçadas.

It's practically therapeutic. Lifts your outlook for the day.

Yeah, coffee and avocado. I hear you. And here that's also good, cheap wine. :wine: Coffee literally is the national drink here -- where most nations Coca-Cola is the biggest brand, here it's Delta coffee. And avocados? Yeah, we definitely have the avocado toast bug here. You need to come!

Good luck with prison colony guards. Truth be told, I haven't technically left the country since before Covid myself anyway.

Great way to start the day for sure! We're in lockdown over here so I haven't left my suburb in 3 months - great time to appreciate all the little things in life. And one of those things is listening to portu podcasts among others.
