Many of their projects are being cancelled/postponed. They'll be reducing about 2/3 of their operations for the foreseeable future.

It became a terrible trade of time for money anyway. I found myself working more than I should, when I could've used that time better.

I'm ok. I don't think I'll be finding a job for a while now, but I still have maybe another two months until I'm ready for applications. I live with my parents and two brothers, my Mom and one brother got laid off already, while my Dad and other brother work for the state and city so we're ok for now with guaranteed income. But with McConnell saying things like states should declare bankruptcy rather than ask for federal aid, I can already see things aren't going to be too fun in the near future.

North Sea is a pretty expensive operation. Even with the changes made a few years ago when the oil price was last low, the industry here still needs the price above about $40 and probably over $50 in the longer term to keep things viable.

Sucks to hear about your brother and mom losing their jobs but at least there seems to be stability in your home, so, glad to hear that.

I keep going back and forth thinking about how I could make a living in the post/current pandemic world. I still have inventory I need to sell when lockdown is lifted and I'm confident I'll get rid of it but I'm concerned that people will run out of money in a few months so obviously significantly less people will spend on non essential items.

Almost anything involving computers, the internet, programming, or data. Every white collar job in the world revolves around them, and yet no one knows how to do anything with them which means $$$. Plus, at least to me, it's all interesting as hell too. There's just so much free or cheap information around it all too, load up on $10 classes on Udemy when there's a sale and you start there. The problem is though, it takes time to really learn all of this stuff and commit it to memory. Months to learn and a lifetime to master.

I don't think I'll ever find the motivation to learn programming no matter how profitable it is. I hope you enjoy it in the long run.

Digital marketing is probably more competitive but it's something I enjoy more. Traditional businesses will look to make sales online so there's a chance to help these people get out there.
