The oil company that outsources me seems likely to terminate my contract
Companies around here are just starting to make general statements about cutting staff numbers, but don't think they've really starting going into detail or informing individuals yet.

North Sea is a pretty expensive operation. Even with the changes made a few years ago when the oil price was last low, the industry here still needs the price above about $40 and probably over $50 in the longer term to keep things viable.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Do you work in the industry?

Operations here are pretty expensive too. Price needs to be $50 to just break even.

I'm ok. I don't think I'll be finding a job for a while now, but I still have maybe another two months until I'm ready for applications. I live with my parents and two brothers, my Mom and one brother got laid off already, while my Dad and other brother work for the state and city so we're ok for now with guaranteed income. But with McConnell saying things like states should declare bankruptcy rather than ask for federal aid, I can already see things aren't going to be too fun in the near future.
Sucks to hear about your brother and mom losing their jobs but at least there seems to be stability in your home, so, glad to hear that.

I keep going back and forth thinking about how I could make a living in the post/current pandemic world. I still have inventory I need to sell when lockdown is lifted and I'm confident I'll get rid of it but I'm concerned that people will run out of money in a few months so obviously significantly less people will spend on non essential items.

Twitch is actually a portmanteau of Twat and Bitch @GordoDeCentral

It's like Trap music is a portmanteau of Trash + Crap.

White guilt is a bitch
Also known as wilt.

Sorry about that, bro. Can you torch anything on the way out? ;)

Oil is going down the toilet anyway.

Did you hear about that professor at the U that got fired over some porn tab on zoom
Nice. Never mix business with pleasure.

Almost anything involving computers, the internet, programming, or data. Every white collar job in the world revolves around them, and yet no one knows how to do anything with them which means $$$. Plus, at least to me, it's all interesting as hell too. There's just so much free or cheap information around it all too, load up on $10 classes on Udemy when there's a sale and you start there. The problem is though, it takes time to really learn all of this stuff and commit it to memory. Months to learn and a lifetime to master.

Yeah and he was a lecturer, they get fired for all sorts of things. He has to sue the student though.

But other students, particularly young women, found themselves discomforted by the situation.
“It’s hard not to think he’s looking at you like that,” said freshman Samantha Hill. “I wouldn’t turn my camera on … I don’t want him to look at me.”

Lol gtfo.

:agree: there's always sales on Udemy. Fuck paying $200 for an online course.

I don't think I'll ever find the motivation to learn programming no matter how profitable it is. I hope you enjoy it in the long run.

Digital marketing is probably more competitive but it's something I enjoy more. Traditional businesses will look to make sales online so there's a chance to help these people get out there.

but are they really? Most of those people are just action faking trying to learn from 20 year old gurus.

I agree that it's pretty competitive but digital marketing is a broad term that covers many methods and channels that you can use to promote products and services. This shit is so dynamic that what you learned yesterday is already outdated today.

You're right, a lot of people are doing these $50 courses thinking they can get into a "fun" career where they can work remotely and travel the world.

Probably there are more serious courses out there, but it just seems like there's an over supply of "digital marketers"

Exactly :agree:

I do know some people that are into digital marketing and managed to build up pretty good portfolios in less than a year. But that's just anecdotal.

I've toyed with the idea of digital marketing but the business to business aspect just puts me off, especially in services.

I understand, it's definitely not for everyone. The tedium of it gets to me as well. A few days ago I spent HOURS working on some small project, trying to figure out why it's not working. Turns out I missed two "=" symbols somewhere. It's mentally exhausting :p.

I know absolutely nothing about marketing, but definitely. Can you do that remotely?

Absolutely. But like I said, maybe not for me either! B2C is more my thing.

That's exactly why I could never do programming :p I know the pain of tedious work when reviewing huge ass contracts or going through a long fuckin law looking for answers.

She's right though. Some men are pigs and will just shamelessly look at your low cut top and pushup bra.
