Nicely said

Oh, I do say that to myself and I know that is exactly what's going to happen. But I still have a massive fear of death and my own mortality.
I'm not afraid of dying, or my own mortality.

I'm afraid of dying alone. Or to be more specific, the point just before my death where the last thing I see before I go is not my wife. I think that is what scares me. TO be the last thing that I set my eyes upon are the eyes of a stranger.

:agree: I never understood why people were so against the idea of it, denying it. Its merely a question of odds, with how big and unknown space is the odds are that there is definitely life out there. I wonder, if we find other life what that means for religion, do they just say God made them as well? :D
It's even more obscene than that. The way that the science is working out with amino acids, objects in the Oort cloud of the solar system, and their impact chemistry, you start to realize that it seems much harder to suppress life in this universe than it is to encourage it.

I think this video is relevant to what we're talking about here.

Kind of off topic, but why has it become trendy for every putz with a microphone to want to hang out at Chernobyl these days? Really, enough already.

 Better.

I'm not sure how conscious or cognitively aware you or anyone might be in those last moments... that's partly the issue.

Every living creature dies alone. Donnie Darko might be just a cult movie, but it gets that right.

And a weird one. I would think that most people are scared of pain.

To each their own I guess.

I'm not scared of pain. I've gone through plenty of physical, emotional, and psychological pain in my life.

But to know that I would be leaving my soulmate? That is something that frightens me.

Well, I guess I won't know until that time comes. I can't very well ask a dead person, now can I.

I have no idea. The channel that video is on, Veritasium, frequently posts videos about science, physics n stuff like that so I don't think him visiting Chernobyl is simply a fad. TBH, I haven't seen any other videos of people lurking there tho.

Anthony Bourdain, Globe Trekker ... They've all been visiting Chernobyl in the past couple of years like it's the new EuroDisney.

...kinda want to go visit the Burning Man festival in the near future.

any experience?
A lot of people I work with and have met here in San Francisco are big proponents of Burning Man. It's definitely an experience that if you are into multi-day out of your ordinary festivals then you should try to go.

The problem is getting tickets. As soon as they are released online their site cannot handle the load of people trying to acquire tickets. But there are other means of getting tickets.

its more about how to get there for me :D
flight from germany is not really cheap...

also the amount of water and stuff you need...
you should have a camper i guess.
best thing for me would be if i knew some experienced people i could team up with.
no way i’ll go alone the first time. my friends are not really into it though :depressed
