Actually, I know of a few people that would be medically diagnosed as "overweight" but yet work out more than my skinny ass and are more fit to do things like climb mountains and all.

That's true. I did find an organic apple stand near Shenandoah Junction though, thankfully.
Indeed. Plus it's fun, you know? Cooking is great, growing a garden is a great hobby. We have 16 tomato plants and several garden boxes filled with basel, thyme, cucumbers, squash, et cetera. Saves money in the long run and way better than any crap at the store.

Still a GMO. Apples have been genetically modified for about 200 years. Organic doesn't indicate, not GMO. An organic apples are kind of laughable. Most have some application of pesticide. Though I'm pretty sure in order to gave the Organic designation from the USDA you have to us biocides.
Most fruits and vegetables are GMO in some fashion, even if they're organic. It's good to remember that not all GMOs are equal. Sometimes, apples for example, fruits are genetically modified to expand the gene bank due to a potentially devastating disease (fireblight). Others are created to produce more per harvest season. Others to become more healthy.

There is a store in Harpers Ferry that has a lot of non-GMO plants that we buy. I have never seen them selling any apple trees, so perhaps that is why. Why do you think America is so fat?
It's getting more expensive, just like everything else. A big Mac meal is now like 7 dollars or something. In order to eat healthy, you do have to pay. But then again, you can feed a whole family on $7 if you're smart. Grow your own veggies ($2 a pack for seeds) and $2 chicken breast, make chicken noodle soup. You can do it, but folks are lazy. This would never happen in Belgium.

Sure, that's why I mentioned food quality. I'd say the majority of food in grocery stores is not quality food. Add into that the advertising machine of the US food industry and it isn't surprising to see why people make the choices they do.
I think the biggest reason for obesity is our propensity to chalk everything up to personal responsibility and play the blame game rather than simply demanding a higher standard from the food industry.

I eat chicken breasts all the time and they're fine. GMO stuff catches way too much shit. It comes down to making bad choices and using food as a comfort. No one is supposed to eat a tub of ice cream in a sitting yet a surprising amount of people do. Skip the drinks at Starbucks loaded with sugar and cream. Think about what you're putting into your body.
