I wish I hadn't put myself in this position (heartbroken for a few days). The fact that I'm hitting on her friend is pure coincidence cause I didn't even know they knew each other so it's not like I'm being a dick.

But you are, so how about not being one. You said you wronged her by doing or saying something awful , so why would need to rub it on her face by pursuing her friend.
