What's worse being gay or being homophobic?

That is a relatively simple question - Being homophobic is by far the worst, without a doubt even. Being attracted to the same sex is something that is natural to someone, so to be who you are seems only logical. Am I gay? Not that I am aware of, but if I were would it bother me - not one iota.

Homophobia is often attributed to a denial of ones own sexuality (numerous studies online - google it) or insecurities of your own masculinity/femininity, or you're just a massive arsehole. So for me to chose the option of a life of denial, unhapinness or insecurity over being who I am and living a happy life is just silly and I feel sorry for the people that have made that choice. When a friend comes out to me I feel happy that they are comfortable with who they are and have the confidence to be open about it with the people they care about.

It saddens me that people have said that being gay is worse than being homophobic.

They don't do it anymore and its because the brothers that founded Costa are from Milan and when people think of Italy it will be a small number of things - Pizza, Pasta, Ancient Rome and Fashion. If you want to market a product based on a national brand image then of the four, Fashion would be the one to go for - Milan is the home of Italian fashion and the connotations that go along with Milan serve well as a brand image.

I in general disregard italian coffee in favour of south asian coffee but its bloody hard to get hold of in the UK, Civet Coffe is about $30 for 250gms. Given i use 7 gms per shot and 4 shots in a large cup of coffee that would be $30 for 9 cups of coffee. As it is i use a blend of arrabica and robusta.

I guess I am looking at it from the perspective of the bullied instead of the bully. Neither one is pleasant to be, and I can't figure out which mindset is more difficult to change, being intolerant or being unhappy in who you are as a gay person. It is easier in many cases to be the bully, I think, especially when it doesn't come up very often, whereas being gay it comes up every day of your life.

But do you have a problem with that kind of behaviour? You can like someone and still dislike some of their actions, but saying you don't have a problem with people being homophobic is horrible.

I didn't really eat the stock at costa - chocolate twists fresh in the morning are amazing though - chuck them in the grill for a minute . I was just drinking coffee all day.

chocolate or the cheese twists yeah man you know it! and a cup of mocha in the mornings. That hit the spot! the benefits of opening up in the mornings even if the pay was shit compared to what starbucks paid general staff.

Judging others?

Everyone judges other people, we analyse & evaluate human behaviour and draw conclusions all the time - thats just being human.

I like to think I make my judgements fairly, based on research and understanding and I am always open to my views being challenged - research and challenge are two of the only ways to evolve ideologies.

You didn't make a reply to what I said you just said that people of a homophobic ideology are in general nice people. Any form of intollerance inherently demonstrates character flaws. If you can provide any evidence to sustain you argument that 'homophobes are nice people' then I will read it.

Indeed, I am coming from a definition that means they would actively bully if given the chance, rather than casually use the term "fag" every now and again.

I don't how see how that issue gets more complex than how i've put it. He proposed it as a perfect circumstance model - spheres in a vacuum. If he posed it as 'you're living in saudi arabia and you have a choice be gay or be homophobic' then its a completely different set of circumstances but that isn't how the question was posed.
