i always felt out of place comparisons made for longwinded useless arguments; roads have nothing to do with professional/university training; with no roads you starve university is an investment in one's future just like setting up a business, and i wouldnt want to amortize it over 40 years at 15%.

It's not a serious argument. Some people happen to think higher universal should be available to anyone who wants it. Just like elementary school. And therefore it makes perfect sense to fund it publicly.

Without government mismanagement i might add, we could pay a lot less for other things.

It's funny, isn't it? The richest country on earth, in the history of the world, and yet everything is too expensive. Can't afford higher education, can't afford health care, can't afford good basic education. And all these things are possible in quite a few other countries, makes you think what exactly is going on over there.

And California is bankrupt. Maybe they should shut down the public schools to save a little money, eh?
