Costa Rica v Greece. Match 52, at the Arena Pernambuco, Recife

Referee: Benjamin WILLIAMS (AUS)
Assistant Referees: Matthew CREAM (AUS) and Hakan ANAZ (AUS)
Fourth Official: Nawaf SHUKRALLA (BHR)
Somebody quickly alter the names a little and make a joke.

A bigger joke, though, is that they let Aussie refs officiate a knockout match. The biggest joke are the teams playing in the knockout match.

Who really are missing from the knockout stages? Italy? Spain? England?

Italy have been terrible ever since and their 2006 run will always be once in a lifetime especially with all the diving they did to reach the final
Spain, you more than me and anyone else is bored of them and are happy that they are gone.
England are always fun seeing them suffer.

So who else did you want there?

Mark my words on this kids. Belgium will get knocked out by USA, then 'murica will knock out Argentina in the quarter finals if and only if, they don't worship Messi and Co.

Then @AlexJuventino will bandwagon back on teamUSA and they will loose in the semis vs whoever is there

easy to find out. look at every group and take the 2 best and most attractive teams out of all groups. then compare them to the teams we have now.

Icory Coast instead of Greece and that's about it. The rest are as good as it gets, this World Cup has been great even though Brazil qualifying over Chile made me upset but we are discussing the group qualifiers now.

An early exit of a favorite is fun. I enjoyed Italy's exit in 2010, France's and Argentina's in 2002. But when 4 star packed teams (Spain, Italy, England and Portugal) leave the tournament in the group stage, the fun is lost. One, preferably Spain, would have been enough.
Now imagine Argentina (I hope), France and Holland all lose in the first round of the knockouts. It will be "super fun" watching Switzerland, Nigeria, Greece/Costa Rica in the quarterfinals, being the outsider when they face the super powers Mexico, Colombia and USA/Belgium.

And I strongly blame the early exit of the favorites on the climate in the jungle. There are lots of other reasons, but this was decisive. Even the South Americans are starting to struggle under that sun and humidity, as witnessed yesterday on Brazil-Chile after the opening 50-60 minutes.

maybe Alen thinks there are more. for myself, i wanted Italy, Ivory Coast, Ghana/Portugal, Bosnia. Croatia/Mexico was a tie. i also wanted Brazil and Argentina out but that was unrealistic to hope for from the beginning :D

I would be extremely happy if we see a semi final between Colombia and Nigeria on one side with Mexico and USA on the other. I would consider it the BEST World Cup ever and fun won't be enough for me to describe it.

Also the favourites have ever since the groups were created been Brazil and Argentina, Spain as third and Germany are fourth. Three out of the four are still there.

And the biggest joke were the seedings. You can't have Uruguay, Italy and England in the same group, or Chile, Spain and Holland, while Belgium are heading the group with Russia, Korea and Algeria.

Who are Belgium and what did they do to be seeded? They didn't even play in the 2006 and 2010 world cup. They didn't play at euro 2004, 2008 and 2012 either. Since 2002 they didn't make it in any of the 5 big tournaments, yet they get to be a group holder. Similar with Colombia. Basing the seeding on the FIFA ranking was wrong.
