workmanlike and unspectacular except for Robinho. Slightly lucky goal from Maicon, nice pass by Robinho set up Elano for the second. NK played very well, disciplined and determined, scored a late consolation

how did brazil play?
They struggled to beat mighty Korea -north-, and many are already going over the top in predicting a Brazil WC win.

They look limited to me, a side that an organised team with winged and good forwards will beat. They will lose against a team that will dominate against them in the midfield.

The only game I really got to watch today was the Brazil v N. Korea game and I must say the N Koreans put up a great challenge! Who expected things to be all tied up at half time? At kick-off I was still trying to figure out if the Koreans had ever even seen a football.

Say what you like about their cookoo country and leader but these guys deserve to given respect for what they did. They can certainly keep their heads high after today's display. Well done.

ps: the emotional display of that one N Korean player was just :touched:

But I expect that from Brazil. They take a while to give a crap about the tournament until they're smelling the trophy.

Everyone here tore their asses off, laughing at that guy(#9). We joked, he probably recieved a call from Kim-Jong about what's waiting if he doesn't score. Looked about right, too. :D

Brazil always don't show up on round 1, and yet you still find them in the final. It has been the same way always. Just collect 3 points and move on. Time for good old display is gone, gone, gone.

On the other hand, great credit to N. Korea. They surely knew what to do. But its always the case with low level team playing a giant.

Fuck defensive football. Its an art for sure, but a blow to the spectators.

no im talking from what i can tell this ball is too light.
the amount of skied free kicks and overhit passes is ridiculous...
Fun fact: the ball they're using now is actually heavier than the one used in 2006.

I don't think it has been a case of defensive football so far. It has been a case of crap football.

Yes it's crap, also to do with the pitches and altitude, doesn't make for good games with it bouncing like a basketball. But don't complain about it, because it's just an excuse. 27 teams from 32 must be looking for one right now.

But they didnt played at the same height as they do now bf
Meh, everyone's looking for excuses if you ask me. Maybe there's an issue with the grass as well, I don't really care about that either.

Professional football players should be able to play the game under different circumstances. It's not like they're playing with their hands tied behind their back on a concrete street while being shot at by mud wrestling midgets...

Do you have a source for that? I heard one of the Adidas researchers say on TV how the jabulani has only 8 seams instead of the 14 the teamgeist has.
Not a source you would understand I'm afraid (it's in Dutch).

During the programs covering the opening games, there was an Adidas representative in the Belgian tv studio. A lot of criticism was pointed at the ball because it was supposed to be even lighter than the previous one.

Turns out that it isn't. This one is 7 grams heavier than the previous one. Not exactly a big difference, but it does show that a good number of players may not know what they're talking about.

Has there ever even been a tournament where players weren't complaining about the ball?
