And create 0 chances. You got one shot on goal and it was rightly disallowed.
Italy had four clear chances and should have been rewarded a penalty. No matter how much Italy sucked, they were STILL better than the US.

Wow ..........this game was simply insane. I don know from where to start....

USA team started much better than Italy..
Where are the guys who were saying a "ITA 3-0USA" game? what i told you befor ethe game? i was VERY sure that USA was coming to give all what they gad in this game.

Italy, it seems they didnt expected the USA reply and where thinking in the Czech game.

The first goal of Italy arrived maybe in the best moment and USA looked more and more dangerous..... good cross from Pirlo and great goal from Gila! Nice celebration too!.

From this point........ the game turned to be maybe the most thrilling match so far in the tournament.... lots of tackles. lots of wrong calls, lots of everything!.

The first USA goal arrived with a big ass messup from Zaccardo...... which simply did the mistake of his life!. That own goal was pure crap, i still cant believe how that goal changed the rest of the game and maybe sealed the future of Italy in the tournament. But like someone said....... it was an honest mistake.... shit happens.

Then... De Rossi... oh boy.,,,,that elbow tackle would make Hulk Hogan proud!. Perfectly excuted right in the face of McBride...but the referee replied with a even better silky move..moving his hands to his pocket and showinfg the almighty RED.
I still dont know what de Rossi was thinking seriously.

Then the mastroeni red card. From what i read here, some people is arguing if it was a food call or not. Ill go with the ones that say it was Red. The guy clearly hitted Pirlo´s anckle with his studs...it was a VERY dangerous foul!. IMO he clearly deserved it.

Totti was one of the players who looked lost in the field...and i have to congratulate Lippi because he hitted the spot with Pirlo. Even when he is not a playmaker...the guy came with blood in his eyes and at least tried to help his mates.

Then the pope expulsion.......... i dont remember how it was so ill not talk about it.

USA even with 9 man looked very dangerous in the counter and Donovan had a hell of a game in the counter attack, dribbling italy players at will sometimes.

The "early" inclution of Del Piero was clearly Needed and Luca toni and Gila were simply not on their day. Lippi took Zaccardo out, and he showed here that he was going for the points...and that was the only way... nothing less.

From all the strikers.... Del Piero was by far the one who had the best game...and even with that he did good , not awesome. His volley saved by Keller was going to be the goal of his life...but sadly keller did an awesome save.

What peoiple noticed and which needs to be comented...is that USA seemed in a much better form than Italy. The azurri boys semeed very tired. Well this could have been because Italy was proposin the game and USA was waiting for a counter... but i think that in Ghana game Italy showed the same signs of fatigue!.

Everyone was saying that the argentina group was the "group of death" but, we all knew this group was going to be madness.

Now all 4 teams can make it to the next round...and Italy will be forced to win against Nedved and company in a very very difficult match.

Sadly , my 2 teams in this tournament are going to kill themselves.,,.... unless a real miracle happen.
Finally an unbiased recap of the game. Well done.

OMG Americans are sooo dumb

What intellect you've displayed with this post! You're a dipshit.

If you want to get into stereotyping, we can, but it really doesn't pan out too well for the italians...who accomplished approximately nothing post 500 AD

Instead of taking the point and being thankful the ref didn't send more of you off, you want more and more. Learn the rules, learn how to play football. The US are such bad "winners".

They had chances, they just lacked the final pass to put them through on goal. I'd like to see the rolls reversed, as I know italy would crumble to bits if they went to 9 men.

I think I saw the same thing too. I don't know maybe we go a different form of reception.

I guarantee you that within 10 years, the US will run Italy into the ground in terms of football, and all experts on the matter would agree.

I'm not asking for more in the game, I'm asking for the Italia fans to take their heads out of their asses and admit tha the US wasn't the violent joke they make them out to be.

Yeah, everyone knows Italians suck at defending around their own box. That's their real weakness.

They simply were violent. Italians were constantly taken down.

i saw it too, but not the entire game, the last 20-15 minutes italy dominated and usa looked for counters.

in the end, it didnt help either team, who had more posetion.

It's simple...Mastroeni did not deserve the red card. If he was not sent off, the whole game would have been changed and we probably would have went on to win. That was a game-changing mistake by the referee, and you cannot deny that.

As Sebi stated, everybody besides you Azzurri supporters admit the USA was the better side. Just accept that and move on FFS. You're still on top of the fucking group.
:disagree:

check the last line that u didn't include in the quote, anyway I will do it for you:

USA deserved the point thou for playing with hearts to gain the 3 points, I can't say the same thing for Italy. Lippi is responsible for the mentality, Even if he is everyone's favourite here, but I would say that.

this is not my argument, I admited and that Usa were the better side, but saying USA got robbed is something totally differet, and I believe it's non-sense..

I have to say that the Romans screwed up Lippi..
Foramtion was 4-3-1-2. De rossi got sent of so it became 4-2-1-2. And we all know Totti's lack of deffense abilities Italy was facing 5 men midfield with only 2 players. With Totti already carrying a yellow card and the match looking physical, it was a great sub for Lippi to take out Totti (unless he was injured missed that part of the game) and bring in Perotta. The only downside is that Italy continied the whole 1st half and begining of the second with no pronounced play maker. Pirlo had to do two jobs. Toni and Gilardino were not moving enough plus after the 2nd red card of USA Zacardo was not needed. Del Piero and tried to do something but the whole italian side was not there. Then when Iaquinta came in italy were already so exhausted (alteats that was what we could make of their performance).
If totti did not have a yellow + he was a decent chap not red card prone we would've have seen Maoro Camoranesi.. Camornaesi would've been ideal for this game. Italy needed some speed and creativity.
If Totti did not get subbed he would've left with a red card.

I say Lippi should consider playing against Czech without Totti.

As already stated, this was a red card. Urs Meier, a very experienced referee said that there was no doubt about it.

The US was better than expected (which is not too hard to achieve) and maybe the better team (big maybe here), but they did not outplay Italy. Argentina outplayed their opponent. The US team had some dangerous counter attacks, but they were neither able to score on their own nor had they many big shots at the goal of Buffon. Italy had many dagerous attacks, too. "Outplayed" is very much exaggerated.

this is game was wrong from the start even before they kicked off, totti is'nt back 100% at all. even the subs apart from gattuso where wrong. i think cammo should've been sent in, and inzaghi instead of iquaninta. not to mention no offense to people who think italy were rougher than the usa. the usa ditched some crappy tackles and towards the end the refree ignored 100% fouls being ditched on italy.
besides the amount of offsides is ridiculos and there were a few that were'nt even offsides. i think the american team played well considering they played with 2 men down but if also the bloody refree with his dumb mistakes is a reason for this. in the end i think italy needs to beat czech rep and benefit its self not any other team cos now we r in the same shit the other three teams are and to be honest with a display like tonights we stand 0 chances against brazil or even australia or croatia.
