totti isnt at 60% right now, its more like 80% lol. Lippi will not start del piero i no that pippo has a better chance then del. All the time del piero will see is with 20 minutes left for the rest of the tourny. this will be totti's best game of the tourny and he will lit up the aussies. i hope he looks like the old totti because if he plays well i dont think the aussies have a chance. Our back 4 is the strongest in the tourny and we havent gotten broken down alot. nesta will miss but materazzi is good to go, and i will think he will follow the czech game with another good game.

totti scores and luca toni scores 2-0 italia
Well I hope not, because the old Totti is a spitter!

I think Australia will be very physical with Italy, much like the US but times 2. I'm calling for goals from Cahill and Kewel, but Italy will win on a late Pirlo freekick to Pippo "The Garbage Man" Inzaghi.

    Lippi respects Socceroos

Marcello Lippi insists Italy are confident they can take revenge on Guus Hiddink and eliminate Australia in the second round.

“Hiddink is a very experienced Coach who knows Italian football well, but we are convinced of our abilities and face Australia with great faith in our chances,” said the tactician.

Australia went through from Group F in second place behind Brazil thanks to a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Croatia.

Hiddink is a familiar face to Azzurri fans, as he was in charge of the South Korea outfit that shocked the 2002 World Cup by knocking out Giovanni Trapattoni’s Italy in the second round with an Ahn Jung Hwan Golden Goal.

“Australia are a very organised side and I put my observers on the case. We’ll begin studying their reports tomorrow.”

Dutchman Hiddink is an old hand at causing upsets in this tournament, having taken Holland to the semi-finals in 1998 and leading South Korea to the same result in the following edition.

“It’ll be tougher than four years ago, in my view,” commented the Socceroos boss. “My Korea was a hard working side that faced off with stars. Australia are an improvement compared to that team, but I also think Italy are stronger than they were in 2002. We must be realistic: it’ll be very difficult for me to beat Italy this time.”

Should be an easy win for Italy.

    3-1

    Totti 2
    Toni 1
Just like it was against my boys, right?

Believe me Azzurri fans, no match will be easy for you from this point on. Some fans here should have a little more respect for their opponents because you don't want the US match or 2002 to happen all over again. Italy might have what it takes to win the World Cup, but teams like the US and Australia can and will beat you on their day.

At this point its the underdogs that I fear most, Australia could well do a South Korea if we're not careful. With Italy I'm never concerned with ability but mentality, if they're up to it the football will measure up and the first step to that is to keep our feet on the ground.
