Udinese reveal Iaquinta details
Sunday 10 February, 2008

Udinese patron Giampaolo Pozzo explains the background to Vincenzo Iaquinta and Antonio Nocerino’s moves to Juventus as the two clubs come together today.

World Cup winner Iaquinta spent seven years at the Stadio Friuli and was requested by Barcelona, but only handed over to the Turin giants in the summer.

“The Spaniards asked me for Iaquinta in January two years ago. Vincenzo was an important player for us and it was the middle of the season, we couldn’t lose him,” explained Pozzo in Tuttosport.

“The negotiations with Juve went on a long time and there was mention of Raffaele Palladino, but above all Nocerino.

“They took him from Piacenza in order to send him over to us, but then changed their minds and kept the midfielder. It seems it was a good decision – after all, he is a first team regular.”

Udinese are notoriously a selling club who find young talents and launch their careers, so will Cristian Zapata, Dias Felipe and Fabio Quagliarella follow Iaquinta to Juventus?

“These are three players who have ambitions to play in big clubs, but we have a good rapport with many sides, not just Juventus,” smiled Pozzo.

He did notice a marked difference in the new club structure since the Triade of Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo and Roberto Bettega were removed in the Calciopoli scandal.

“There was another type of approach. These are professionals, but it is part of the game of negotiations that you try to grab a cheaper deal.”

That's the difference between Secco&Co and our triade:sigh: I bet Secco doesn't even negotiate,he either accepts the price or goes for another player.

Come on let's not exaggerate everything, he received a wonderful pass from Nedved and did what he had to do! Credits should go to Nedved for that goal..

It was a lovely pass by Neddy, but Vinny wanted to score against his old club - you could tell by the look on his face whilst he sat there - stuck on the bench.

I am not criticizing him or anything, he received a wonderful pass and did what a regular striker should do, that's it! My point is, let's stop overrate everytime our players score. Sure he is a great player and all, no one doubts about that or what he is doing all the season, but today he just scored a goal of Neddy's effort, let's not exaggerate it.
