higher taxes and a negative move towards socialism....no thanks !!!
Now I've been known to vote for a Republican here and there, despite my zip code. But Vinman, even you gotta wonder how the crackpots in charge here are burning a hole in this nation's pockets faster than you can say "New Deal"... It makes the "tax and spend" liberal stereotype seem like a miserly old grandma who eats cat food by comparison to the "fiscal conservatives" who are running the show now.

Impeccable timing, Geof. ;)

The missing piece being that Georgie Boy's $482 billion deficit says nothing of the additional $700 billion mortgage bailout being proposed. Technically, that will be more than we've spent in 5 years in the Iraq War.

Now I'm not letting Democrats off the hook on this one either. The president isn't the only one responsible for fiscal policy, and there's enough mud to sling against Republican opponents to keep us busy a while with this. But seriously -- in any other context, this would be gross negligence for anyone one watch. Particularly for the party who gets voted into office saying that they're the watchdogs keeping those spend-crazy Democrats in check, and they're binging and purging worst of all.

I see, you Americans get dragged into a war based on lies, a war that burns deep holes into your pockets and as a 'goodbye ' gift you get the toughest financial crisis since the depression and you guys are still wondering who to vote for?
Should we vote McCain to keep going on the same road or Obama who wants change more then anything?
how hard can that be...

Is that all? I spend that much on coffee.

Man, that Euro-dollar exchange rate is really getting out of control.

It sounds logical, doesn't it? Problem is that almost half the people don't give a rat's ass about the economy when they vote. They're still voting for the candidate they'd most like to have during The Rapture.

Oh my god, I don't believe. Among all the despair there is good news for once.

Various readers are sending in good news from Europe on the rights front. First, at the EU level, Mark.J brings word that the European Parliament has canned a number of controversial amendments to its updated Telecoms Package, which could have resulted in ISPs being forced to disconnect customers for involvement in illegal file-sharing of copyrighted material. Next, SplatMan_DK writes from Denmark on a recent ruling by the Danish High Court that means that Danes are still innocent until proven guilty in copyright cases, even if their IP address has been confirmed as the origin of P2P traffic involving copyrighted music. Finally, from Sweden, an update on the draconian so-called Lex Orwell, which would have effectively resulted in the routine wiretapping of the entire nation. Eric Blair sends a link on an agreement reached between the Swedish parliament and the sitting government on a new form for the controversial signals intelligence law. Supposedly, the sting has been taken out of the law: only the department of defense and the cabinet may request data, and they'll have to get court approval for it.
Not only that, the RIAA lost a big case yesterday, they have zero wins in court so far.

How often does corruption lose? Today is happy.

Don't you get one via marriage?
That's the angle I'm working. Except that she didn't get her E.U. passport until after our marriage (born here only two years after her parents moved out), and apparently that added some complications for me looking for free healthcare and all. :shifty:
