I'm afraid we're past the point where facts matter. It seems that the electorate public need emotional reactions to soundbytes, and any facts are the casualty of political war. No one has the patience for them anymore.
They need whatever the media teaches them to "need", what forms their political culture. It just so happens that emotion is basically all these campaigns are about these days.

Twisting facts is one thing, making things up is a whole 'nother matter.

But what hurt the system the most? People on welfare cheating or big companies cheating?
Both, equally. Checks and balances are always important.
You are talking to someone who thinks the free market is the answer to every problem :)
Cool post man. :)

Because I said exactly that.

He's shown to be a hypocrite. Not to mention he's fabricated facts just to make the opposition look worse. I'm cooking right now so I can't google it but yeah.

Good point. Big companies need to get their shit checked too. I don't think Hustini has anything against that though.
~And Obama isn't a hypocrite? :howler:

Oh dear.

~I'm not against that. I think a lot of big companies find loopholes in the system, as do small ones. I think regulations are important to ensure CEOs are running a tight ship.

I don't see it getting better. Right now you have two parties that thrive on the echo chambers of their own self-love, celebrating in the fiction of belief unrooted from truth.

And elections are about emotions, not rational logic. Nobody gets out of their chair and riled up to vote because it seems like the most calculated answer. They do it because the preacher makes them believe -- even if what they believe is pure b.s.

I'm so tired of the media anymore. It's all about twisting and spinning for your own benefit rather than just saying it how it really is.

Facts are facts, but then you get facts fo the facts then rebuttaled for fact of the facts for the first facts, etc. It doesn't end.

But that doesn't mean the population "is so dumb that this is the only thing they will listen to" or similar rationales. It's no secret that people are generally lazy, but they are a product of the society they live in.

Not for independants. :)

They are lazy in they don't research the "why" anymore. I have my views as do all of you, but I at least make an effort to do my own research as best as I can. I don't watch TV...no CNN or Fox or NBC or CSPAN, I prefer to read and draw my own conclusions.

I see a similar tendency here.
Aye. Not too pretty here either.

It can - in the long run - become a democratic problem, if we are more interested in the sexual orientation of a politician than what he/she actually believes is the right solution for a given problem.

Just look at how little we talk about The European Union simply because it's not a 'sexy' subject.

It's only marketable if you're a hater. Seems to me negative politics are far more interesting to people lately than positive things. I hate this vs I like this.

It was bad enough when it was "just" Fox News that was complete fiction. But CNN jeez what an insane transformation it's undergone.

They are, or at least that's what the media believes. We want headlines and drama so let's find contrast instead of agreement.

We wanna be entertained so let's find some gossip without any political content. We have become consumers instead of citizens.

And Facebook made me realise how many ignorants this people actually have. Give your votes to The Nihilistic People's party.

I don't vote even though I'm member of a political party. Too fed up with the political environment and our welfare state of mind.

How can you be a member of a political party and not vote? Why not just leave the party if you are so fed up with it?

Makes no sense.

Seriously, fuck The Nihilistic People's party. A bunch of spoiled hipster brats trying to be cool. My favorite thing in the world is when I find a proclaimed nihilist at a party, the moron rate on those are 100%.

I agree. I left Socialistic People's Party after a certain bill wasn't passed here and I quite frankly hope the party is consumed into a black hole of what once was. (not that this makes alot of sense to you, since I doubt you follow DK politics, but the example is supposed to back up your point)

Should I be forced to vote for the party that I'm a member of? That wouldn't make sense.

I'm still a member because I work - so to speak - behind the scenes to influence my party in another direction.

The reason I wouldn't vote for my party right now is because it is part of a government with two other parties that I disagree with.

Besides I didn't state I was fed up with my party.
