There are a lot of religious maniacs in 'Merica.

It's like Saudi Arabia.
Social conservatism, mostly. People who want to continue their denial that 1950s rural and suburban "white culture" is becoming ever more the minority in this country.

Well he is promising to reduce taxes for a certain part of the population and that can make a big difference for them. The reason he's doing it is to benefit himself most probably, but still, why would they care if it helps them. That being said, he's worse than Obama.

American politicians have been bribing the electorate with their own money for ages. I don't think voters are so foolish as to believe that ruse anymore. Now it really comes down to a philosophy about the role of government.

And I agree about the last part. It seems to be that the Democrats have been branded as big government and Republicans as lasseiz faire.

Anybody who has voted for a president more than once should know that the tax break promises of politicians is all window dressing.

That's the essential issue. Problem is that it's not entirely accurate either, as we're talking about Coke vs Pepsi in that department.
