The selection *is* ridiculous and you can question it no matter what. But who really has been expecting to see Pirlo in the final XI? Let Juve defend the scudetto, reach the champions league final and let Pirlo have one or two brilliant games during the quarter/semi/finals, then he will win.

But, actually, who does care? Since when do we need confirmation from outside? Since when are we eager to attract glory hunters? When was this? I don't remember Germany playing against Portugal for 3'rd place at the Euros. There is a 3'rd/4'th place playoff @ the World Cup, but that is a FIFA endorsed event, not sponsored by UEFA.
