Actually, in Italy when he was playing at Parma, they called him America or the American.

He in fact he has said he's an American in all walks of life, except when he plays soccer. Which really makes no sense. If he had just come out and said "I'd just rather play for Italy" it would be so much easier than to say what he said.

Look at guys like Subotic and Ibisevic. Both grew up in the US and played footie in the US, college level and US level, both chose to play for different nations. Neither of them are considered traitors because they don't also claim to be Americans. Rossi does, he's trying to have it both ways. I think that's what makes people angriest.
Ah. I was not aware of this. If he says he's an American, I don't understand him at all. But I would understand him if he said he feels Italian.

Rossi is a traitor par excellence. Just like McTraitor who is 100% Scottish but decided to play for the USA.

And Fred is not Libyan. He's a Scotemirate.
Bullshit.

I am not surprised that Americans would have opinions such as theirs, but i'm quite surprised you have such an opinion too.

And I'm surprised that you even bother having these discussions with Andy.

Here, during censuses, when you're asked about your nationality you can say whatever the fuck you want. If you say that you're Martian, they will register you as Martian and if 3 more say the same, then officially 4 Martians will be registered as citizens of Croatia.

You are what you feel that you are. That's something that no-one can take from you and that no-one knows better than you.

Yet you keep arguing with Andy about it.

I want to try and make him see the other side of the argument. I'm not saying he's wrong, i'm saying his way of thinking is not applicable in all cases.

But imagine, me being Scottish, thats a funny thought :D

But even if you feel like you're from Alderaan, Alen, you're still Croatian. There is no such thing as Alderaani citizenship, and neither are there Martian Croatian nationalities.

I think that Andy was mostly teasing you. But where he grew up, it's a normal thing to think the way he does regarding these matters.

I know it is. I don't think his way of thinking is wrong, but he seems to think its the only way to define a persons nationality.

Whats your stance on all this contrarian? :D
Ah well, the hypocrisy is as plain as day :D

I agree with everything you said in the last few pages except calling Rossi a traitor in case he chose Italian NT in spite of feeling like an American. I mean, who are we to decide whether Rossi was right or wrong? It is his life and he decided to play for Italy. Even if he had said that he feels like an American, choosing Italian NT over the American one doesn't make him a traitor. Even if he chose Italy because he thought it would help his career more (since Italy are a bigger team :D) it is all right in my book. It's actually more or less the life story of almost all immigrants. They immigrate to have better opportunities to live or to work. Are they traitors to the country the were born and in many cases raised in?
