I was born in Madison, lived for three years in Detroit, then spent the rest of my time in Frederick and Southern Pennsylvania. Even though I'd love to say I'm "from" Newport Beach, California, I can't say I am.
I have no other nationality other than Libyan nationality. Scotland is a country, i will probably never go to again in my lifetime. Unlike Libya, that i go to every summer, the country all my relatives live in. The only place where my family owns property. But still, you're saying i am not from Libya. Astonishing.
Oh and i'm not for open borders. I just think countries like the US should be a little more strict in their conditions for nationality/citizenship. There will be a lot less trouble if that happens imo
Thats exactly the same thing for Rossi, but, on top of all that, he was also born and raised up in the US and he knows English better than Italian. So basically, I guess Rossi is more American then you're Libyan? He's an ass for choosing a country where he spent 3 years of his life.

My passport says i'm Libyan, all my friends, relatives, family, everyone i know considers me Libyan. Me and my family do not own property anywhere else other than in Libya.
So what do i do now, Andy? I only have a Libyan passport. Neither the Scottish nor the Emirati goverments recognize me as a citizen.

the last jew in Libya died at 2001. Guess that makes me even less Libyan

You see you're wrong there. Thats NOT the way it works. Thats the way it works in the US sure, its not the way it works here in the UAE. If you are born here and have lived 80 years in the country, you would still not get citizenship. So again, that is NOT how it works everywhere.
You still haven't given me a solution. Both the Scottish and UAE governments the two countries i've spent most of my life in, do not recognize me as a citizen.
I didn't mean that i want to live there. I meant that if i was a professional footballer, i'd choose the Libyan NT over any other. Because i consider myself Libyan, and would love to play for this flag.

Neither of course. I consider myself 100% Libyan. I also feel i don't deserve to have Scottish citizenship for that reason. But still, i could have easily got Scottish citizenship and leeched off their country and never considered myself Scottish. Economics 101, resources are limited, and more and more immigrants that are like Rossi are allowed to take advantage of a country's resources at the expense of real "Americans".
Emirati people are tribal. As in they all belong to different tribes. Also, they are a minority in their own country, UAE nationals shape less than 20% of the population. So, they want to preserve their heritage, their customs, their traditions etc in the midst of this mass emigration that has been happening for the last two decades.
I think they're perfectly within their right to do so.
You can't be a citizen of any country if you aren't legally recognized as one. Why can't you just accept that the world does not all revolve around the US and the world does not all operate the "American" way?
