So you're saying he's a liar, Fred?

He probably is. :D

But again, he was born and raised in the US. It's not like he came from Italy like his parents. He went to a regular public high school, had American friends, played for clubs here and the ODP program, so it wasn't like he was shunned.

He's just a typical kid from Jersey.

Who has Italian parents, always had Italian citizenship, probably went to Italy every summer and played football for Parma ever since he was 15. Yeah right.

Rossi is as Italian as Robert Padovano, Vinni Mancino, Nick Scarfo, Sergio Lenza, or Kobe Bryant.
Kobe. Good point. You think he should play for the Italian NT?

TBH I feel he could have chosen either team. Italy makes a little bit more sense though, considering the fact his parents are Italian, Rossi was probably always called an Italian in the US anyway, and most importantly the fact that he did play some of football as a kid in Italy as well. He's no traitor to the USSF. You don't have to like the guy, but calling him a traitor is ridiculous, especially considering how many players of the American NT aren't really American.
WHy, because their parents snuck across the border to drop them and get them citizenship?

But going by your arguments Rossi should play for the Italian NT! There's no reason why he shouldn't.

They are Italien.

Or maybe he's not lying and the bolded part is true. I'm saying i don't know. I'm saying that living in a country for X amount of years does not necessarily make you from there.

Also, if its like Seven said, he went to Italy every summer. Then maybe he always considered himself Italian, but his parents had work in the US. Is that not possible?

Maybe they're Italians that happen to work in USA?

Plausible, no?

But it doesn't make Rossi from Italy either.

He can have his citizenship that's not worth the paper his passport is printed on, but he isn't "from" Italy.

That's also bullshit. You just like that argument because you think you're Libyan without ever living there.

Actually, in Italy when he was playing at Parma, they called him America or the American.

He in fact he has said he's an American in all walks of life, except when he plays soccer. Which really makes no sense. If he had just come out and said "I'd just rather play for Italy" it would be so much easier than to say what he said.

Look at guys like Subotic and Ibisevic. Both grew up in the US and played footie in the US, college level and US level, both chose to play for different nations. Neither of them are considered traitors because they don't also claim to be Americans. Rossi does, he's trying to have it both ways. I think that's what makes people angriest.

Stop being so closeminded about this. Like i've told you a million times. Nationality is viewed very differently in other places in the world.

Why is your way the "right" way?

I will always consider myself Libyan, no matter how long i stay away from my country.
