Inter fans send new Lukaku letter
By Football Italia staff

After the racist abuse from Cagliari fans and even more shocking Inter ultras defending them, other Nerazzurri supporters wrote an open letter to Romelu Lukaku.
The incident and above all the aftermath sent shockwaves around the world, hitting the New York Times and the front page of The Guardian, among others.
What stunned everyone was the open letter written by a group of Inter ultras in the Curva Nord, who insisted to Lukaku that the insults were not “racism,” but rather to be taken as a compliment of how much the opposition fans feared him and were willing to go in order to put him off his stride.
Now a different Inter ultras group has released an open letter to Lukaku countering that argument, proving it was only a minority that would defend this behaviour.
“Hi Romelu, the statement from the Curva was real, you genuinely read that, some people really did believe it and had the courage to publish it. Really,” wrote the group on Ranocchiate blog.
“However, we want you to know that those were not INTERISTI. We’re not talking about politics, because you’ll find people from the left, right, centre or those who don’t know or care about politics.
We are talking about the values of being an Inter fan and a human being, which guarantee the contents of that letter was unadulterated filth.
“We want you to know that you are not going crazy: those noises you heard were not just ‘boo’ but genuine monkey impressions. In Italy, you should know, there are many who consider black people to be monkeys.
“And no, it is NOT A FORM OF RESPECT AND FEAR TO RECEIVE THEM.
“And no, it is not a way of supporting the team, because having them play behind closed doors the weekend after creates more problems than ever.
“And no, shouting ‘damn n***o’ is not banter.
“And yes, racism is still a huge problem in Italy, despite what they may tell you.
“And no, don’t stop this battle you had the courage to start, just because someone is trying to avoid punishment.
“We have had season tickets for time immemorial, but – and we hope we’re talking for all INTERISTI here, we’d prefer the stadium to be closed rather than allow something this disgusting to go unpunished.
“Inter is #NOTFOREVERYONE”

Our ultras are the same. And the way the club has been run this summer it sure feels like we are supporting Inter.

Our ultras are dumb, I'll give you that. (Same goes for the people here that support those Ultras IMO)

There REALLY is no need for Ultras anymore. But some fans insist we need their banners and chants for the sake of "atmosphere" because somehow that supersedes the club/country moving forward into the 21st century. This is going to get worse before it gets better. Racists suddenly don't wake up one day and decide not to be racist anymore. My bet is players will start walking off and clubs start taking the brunt of their fan's stupidity.

So you think they are racist because they are ultras?

THOSE Ulras

The ones who do the monkey chants and those "Ultras" that sit around them and don't do or say shit to them for it. Yep. If they are afraid to stand up to them then I guess they aren't very "ultra" are they?

On one hand you have Ultras that are opening racist, on the other hand you have Ultras that bitch and moan about ticket prices and openly revolt against the club in protest. Entitled idiots IMO.

We even had Ultras openly chant against the normal fans

Tommasi: 'Ultras safe havens in stadiums'
By Football Italia staff

Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi urged “courage” to fight racism in football and destroy “safe havens” for ultras in the stadium.
The issue reared its ugly head again when Romelu Lukaku was racially abused by Cagliari fans, but what really took the story around the world was the open letter from a group of Inter ultras in the Curva Nord who insisted it was not racism, but a way of ‘helping the team’ by putting him off his game.
“We need courage, because people who act this way must be sanctioned,” Tommasi told Radio Rai.
“If there are only a few, they need to be identified and taken out of the stadium. If there are many, then play has to be halted. The trouble is these insults aren’t just in the stadiums, but on social media and they are spreading.
“We also really need all elements of the State to work together on the issue of these ‘safe havens’ in the stadiums. Some zones must be more closely monitored, because the Inter Curva Nord statement about Lukaku was the proof these safe havens do indeed exist, areas where people think they can do anything.”
Tommasi was also asked about the Mauro Icardi row with Inter, which saw him try to sue the club for ‘discrimination’ when excluded from full training sessions, before finally accepting a last-minute loan move to Paris Saint-Germain.
“The Icardi case is emblematic of squads now being too big. He was not part of their project, but was only allowed to go out on loan after extending his contract, which seems incredible.
“Some players who wanted to leave were blocked by their clubs, but it happened the other way round too. We need to find a solution and understand why this is happening more often.”

I remember how half of this forum enjoyed muore balotelli chants while he was at inter. Though I'm not sure if there was anything racist in that, just pathetic

agreed. Christmas caroling has no place in a civilized society.
Typically, grown men don't go caroling. That's usually left for children in choirs. If you do see a bunch of grown men caroling then I'd ready that mossberg dual action pump while you call 911.

First it was violence and racism now apparently even signing is not trendy and prevents us from going into 21st century.
