Take Calciopoli as an example. Serie A survived, but it became a much worse product compared to before.

That's what I imagine will happen with those leagues.

Maybe rich folks will find new clubs to use as toys.

Or maybe those clubs left in those leagues will get back to the roots of what football is about.

Yes I'm just dreaming here about the last thing.
Don't worry bro, Bayern will join eventually :)

Imagine world cup without players from these teams.
Real barcelona Atletico Juventus Milan inter Liverpool ManU ManC Chelsea Arsenal Tottenham. It would the worst competition ever.

thats why uefa/FIFA are shitting their pants.
Yeah seriously fuck UEFA. As someone said before club's finances relied so much on UCL progress, because of some mistake from ref they lose and they're out, they are forced to sell players and shit like that. UEFA doesn't even care to apologize or suspend the ref.

First time I respect Bayern tbh but in the grand scheme of things UEFA and other associations don't really care about competitiveness and such, only want to keep their money grabbing rights. Big clubs really just all the same and it means nothing who wins CL/SL anymore. Farcical shitshow.
I really think it's just a matter of time before Bayern would beg to join if the clubs get their way.

We absolutely couldn't live without the money if the Super League can offer more.

And I agree about the rest of what you say as well.

If that happened 10 years ago, Id be frustrated, but I've stopped caring about the state of this sport ever since money became too important. Its years ago that they should have redistributed income with smaller teams more. Difference between them and big teams is too big now.

The talent pool right now is so small than football is less and less competitive. If it means not dealing with FIGC and basically having more interesting games, im all for it. Because as it is this sport is done either way. The governing bodies rekt it

True but my argument was to merely illustrate how successful the NBA product is without having a large base like football does.

Btw I am not exactly supporting this move but we all know it's purely money motivated at the end of the day.
    Yeah I get you.

I personally do not think it is possible for these clubs to do anything to really catch up to the big American sports leagues. Real Madrid, probably the most famous and one of the most successful clubs in a sport with global popularity that is hundreds of years old, is still worth less than Knicks, a decades long clown show.

This why these threats are doomed to fail and why this shit idea might happen.

People will tune in to the competition that has Ronaldo, Messi, Salah, Pogba, Ibra, etc. A world cup basically without top european teams makes little sense. A eurocup without them makes 0 sense at all.

meanwhile uefa will be basically left with mbappe and Jesse Lingard

tbh the whole thing kinda reminds me of the brexit negotiations.

That sort of World Cup sounds as relevant as the homeless football world cup to me. Add it to the fact it is in Qatar and it just sounds like a shit dystopian movie that would probably star Jason Statham.

@Dru do you think they would implement something like the NFL with drafting and player contracts?
I could just see it now. A bright, crisp Sunday morning. An hour before the match news articles come out saying that Ronaldo, Chiesa, and Cuadrado are being rested so that random youth players can get a full 90. Get blown out 6-0 against Tottenham, the tank in full effect for draft picks that Paratici will just use on some random kids to never be seen again anyway.

What a time to be alive, God bless American sports :touched:

Most of football's fanbase are concentrated within these 12-15 clubs anyway. I don't know maybe they could get there eventually and the super league could be the catalyst.
If us, the football fans didn't subscribe to this idea, the super league concept would've been banished long ago but they know what drives the viewership. They know fans will tune in no matter what.
They know for a fact that having the best teams with the best players week in week out will turn the attention of the average viewer.
