As if players and clubs dont care about money the guy makes a quarter of a million a week. Ofcourse UEFA & FIFA are prioritizing viewership figures and money.
There are bench players for a reason. The game would have to evolve with more subs being used and more squad rotation. Maybe that will reduce individual players' worth and consequently their salaries by placing more emphasis on the group (if the whole squad has to be heavily involved every season rather than the starting 11 + 2 or 3 bench players).
context matters once again. this guy gets his salary from his club. this is clearly about useless nt matches. uefa/fifa don't pay too much for these tournaments. also, courtois is well compensated for his efforts, but the same calendar applies for many european players, not even only for those in the top5 leagues.
the point is that clubs take all the risk by paying these players, and uefa introduced these glorified friendlies at the expense of the clubs/players. "saving football" the uefa way
