Ok if they are better (historically), why does Arsenal have more fans?
I didn’t say they are historically better I said they are currently better. Why would a league where we get to watch Arsenal vs AC Milan be a step forward? You don’t live in the past, you live in the present.

You think the league should be won by the club that has the most fans?

Competitions should be played with the best teams not the best supported team. This isn’t a circus with the sole purpose of selling out and making huge profits. Oh wait.

And people that agree with this because of money. Where do you think that money will end up, in the club or in the pockets of the owners??

Ok, then why the fuck does Juventus have to share ANY money with smaller Serie A clubs when it was the only thing keeping it afloat for a decade?

Im in favor of fairness, not equality.

SL is ought to be based on merit too - historical merit. I see it as a reward for +- 100 years of legacy.

None of what you wrote is the result of a closed competition. You can have salary caps and all that AND have relegation and promotion.

From a sporting sense, closing a competition is shit. No two ways about it.
Rubbish.

The threat of relegation to finances makes that simply not true. Those sports have minimum salary floor as well, to make sure poor teams aren’t just spending no money and permanently sucking ass. If you are constantly having teams float up and down between divisions and having uncertain finances that just doesn’t work. There’s a reason that mostly the same teams are floating up and down between divisions.

Closed competition and proper salary cap and floor makes for most competitive leagues. It’s pretty obvious. As well as revenue sharing.

Beyond that having dinky ass cities having top division teams to fill out 20 teams/domestic league is just never really going to work being competitive with the big clubs and that is painfully obvious on every league.
