Call me cynical but he's an owner of Salford City, and a lot of his reaction stems from the fact if the ESL goes ahead he won't see his club go through the tiers and play against teams like Man Utd or Liverpool.

Still think the whole idea is weird, but I expect football one day will have teams globally competing against each other. NY vs London, Tokyo vs Sao Paulo, and so on.
