The problem with no transfer fee cap is it inflates price (inflation) and its not sustainable for the system to deal with these amounts unless you have unlimited resources. This diminishes the purchasing power too
Salary cap without tweaking or overhauling transfers wouldn't do anything in relation clubs spending high amounts in salary and transfers.

With salary cap, what doesn't get spent in salary will get spent in transfers, raising transfer fees more as you alluded, with that being the problem then.

Clubs/directors have one budget for salary+transfers, not separate.

Also, how do you impose same salary cap on EPL clubs when they're earning 5x more?

North American system really is the way to go.

It was a very good interview.
Indeed, a very long one as well.

He mentioned the club spreading misinformation was a Manchester club. Well fuck shitty and union.

his a resolute character and you can tell his not gonna give up, sly as a fox as well, who got outdone this time. Reminds me of Moggi. A nice partner to have in this battle against the evil premiergime.

:agree:

It doesn’t have to be completely closed, but a multi-tiered European League with relegation/promotion between divisions is the only real way forward. Else the product turns further and further into shit.

John Barnes was on the radio and he explained it best. The EPL came about exactly like this in the 90s where the top clubs proposed the league with Sky TV money behind it. Nobody liked it but it worked because they allowed for promotion and relegation. Sky or subscription money has made EPL what it is today and of all the leagues, England have the greatest number of rich clubs. The other thing was that the English Championship has become a hugely followed competition because of the race for promotion and the promise of big money getting into the EPL.

Yeah. Italian and Spanish clubs want it so so bad. They will definitely come back with something new, just like Perez said himself.
italians and spanish clubs are those in the shit.
English have their 5-6b/year league already so they aren't that desperate.
France is only PSG and they have an arab bilionaire.
Germany always talk like they have some 1,5meters long dildo in their asses ....
If they weren't popular around the globe why the fuck would you invite english teams.
Specially Arsenal and Tottenham which aren't relevant at all

So I guess most people agree with that old senile fart (Perez)? Oh boy.

Great narrative though. "We're spending too much money & it's not sustainable. So what we need, obviously, is more money to continue spending like crazy."
Ad infinitum.
