I'd like to throw it against a wall and shrug. $25,000 for a bottle of drink, fuck off.
People who buy that buy it for the sake of spending $25,000 and because they can afford to waste $25,000 on a bottle of whiskey that will sit in one of their cupboards. I doubt there's much difference between that and a really good $150 (and probably less) bottle.

there is, rest assured. the point is that no drink, no matter how good it is, is worth 25k for 0.7l. it's undoubtedly fantastic, but not for the price of a car.

I disagree..what if it's some kind of magic drink that makes you shit money for the rest of your life (millions of $$$ or more). but yes, a bottle of whiskey without magic powers is clearly not worth $25k. You can buy a car and go on a holiday with that much cash.

Me and a few friends shared a bottle of Berry's Own Selection (1987, Bownore) and a Liquid Sun (12 year, Bowmore) last night. I was invited to a private Whiskey tasting, was nice.

Not a fan of Berry's, a bit chemical in the taste. The Liquid Sun was real nice though, almost like a white wine in colour. Rounded off the night with some Laproaig and, hold your horses, a Statesman :D

Actually the Statesman isn't as bad as its reputation. Sure it's a real cheap blended but better than I thought (first time I tried it).

In whiskey as in wine, the fool who knows no difference between quality and price buys the most expensive bottle he can find with a good story to try to impress his friends.
