I find it funny, well, sad actually, that the Canadiens fans hold a rally yesterday to re-sign Kovalev, but they do nothing as far as Koivu is concerned.

Wow, just wow.

Didn't know that Kovalev was a Francophone
yeah well I personally wouldn't have signed either.

Hmm. 3 years, 10 million for Beauchemin. You're telling me the habs couldn't at least match that?
They could but maybe he didn't want to sign here.

They need to hang on to as many young dudes as they can.

Was he an unrestricted free agent? I thought he only made his NHL debut last year
    He was an RFA.

Our scouts think Leino has a very bright future and he does look very skilled.

Instead of signing Hossa and Samuelsson we decided to keep Leino and Hudler, probably a good idea for the future.

We could still use another goal scorer since we lost two though.

What's the news on Huddler's arbitration? The Wings gonna show the kid some money?

I've looked and I can't find an update.

That's not my point though Mark. My point is, why would they hold a rally for Kovalev, who is as inconsistent as they get, and not have one for the captain of your franchise for the last 10 years?

Hmm, I don't get how he was a RFA though, considering he only played a handful of games. Did they sign him to a 3 year entry level contract when they first signed him?

Was he in the AHL for the better part of the last 3 years??

So apparently, Chicago screwed up on their deadline to offer contract tenders to some of their RFA's, and this could therefore make them UFA.

I know that Kris Versteeg is one of them, but the one that really caught my eye if he is declared an UFA is Cam Barker.

Oh my, he could break the bank

I know that New Jersey did something similar to this a while back with John Madden and somebody else, and ended up having to pay through the nose for them

We signed him from a Finnish team, but due to the cap, we had to send him to the Griffins in the AHL for a year in 2008. We only called him up a few times during the season and for a few games in the Finals.

I'm not exactly sure what the deal was though.
