Hips don't lie.................
It's a good thing Ainge didn't leak those locker room rumors...................
Oh wait.
Man, feel bad for IT and his prospects of getting that big-money deal he deserves, imo. This trade put his hip issue under a microscope and who knows if a team will be willing to back up that Brinks truck for him in 2018.
This being said, I am starting to feel a lot better about the Kyrie trade with the latest news coming out on IT's hip. Would have loved Crowder to stay, but I guess they had to include him in the deal for salary cap purposes ...
Also, it seems Ainge isn't as high on the 2018 Nets pick as he was on the 2017 one. Nets got a bit better roster-wise but the East got a lot worse, as a whole, with a bunch of teams likely to tank this year, while the Nets have no reason to follow suit.
It may well be the case that the Nets pick would be only losing in value from now on.

George and Butler are not in Kyrie's class at their respective positions.
Also, the way the NBA cap works, the Celtics could not have made a big trade, involving a big-contract player (e.g. Butler, George, Kyrie, etc), before getting Hayward on a max free-agent deal.
Had they traded for Butler/George before getting Hayward, they would have lost their cap space and would not have been able to get Hayward.
Also, Chicago was rumored to had asked for the Celtics 3rd pick (which they used for Tatum) on top of the 2018 Nets pick. Even without the issues with the Hayward timeline, there was no way Boston would have paid such a price.
If anything, I would say the Pacers messed-up by off-loading George when they did. Had they waited for Boston to first sign Hayward, maybe Boston would have been more willing to deal that Nets pick for George. Instead, the Pacers got close to garbage in return.
