From what I gathered from here and there on the net it seems that Bastos could be the type of player Ranieri would like.

It's been a while since I've seen a full Ligue 1 game and don't seem to recall him. I'll check him out next time they show a Lille game. I hope he's a great crosser, dribbler, fast machine, good scorer, team player, ambidextrous and consistent performer. :p

He has been consistent for lille for the past two years, but this year he has been just fantastic.

He's a rather good crosser, decent enough dribbler and an efficient player. He gets the job done. He's also a hard worker thats willing to track back, so i think he would fit in Juve like a glove. He is a Ranieri type of player too.

Anyone here watched Michel Bastos of Lille play before?
he will always be suspended, if he does not stop doing this ... Michel Bastos

the question is, can he also play football ?

some statistics from my favourite site:

8 goals, 8 assists in 20 games so far this season ... last season "only" 8 goals and 2 assists in 35 games ...

i think with these players you have to watch them for more than one season to judge if they are not only a one season wonder ... as with trochowski ... even if that would mean that others might want him too then. perhaps some sort of pre-contract of "first-buy" clause with the club would be nice

so what the hell's he still doing at Lille? :D
Well its not like he's been in Lille for 10 years, this is his third season, i'm expecting him to move to one of France's big boys this summer, then watch his value sky rocket and come say you wished you had listened to Fred :D

sometimes you have to take a chance like we did with Kapo. It didn't work out then but it might with him. If you don't take risks then when that players makes it you have regrets. Of course, those risks should be calculated. That's were good scouts come in and I doubt we have good one now.

yeah, but i think the right time to do this is essential.

if we buy a player to early, the chances increase that he is just a one season wonder.

further the player might be intimidated by our champions and might fail do the high pressure. we would not give him too many chances (see criscito) and he might need more time to settle. if he had a few seasons on his back, where he did prove hisself, he might be more confident . . .

just look how long it took to squeeze one good game out of tiago ... and he is not even a youngster and should be proven enough to stand his man

if we buy some youngster for cheap, than i thing the coach would not be so patient.

the only reason tiago is still with us and got some chances is he cost us several millions which we would've blasted if we sold him now
