It's not true. It is called patriotism, nationalism and it is quite spread around the globe. I don't like it, I'm not a fan of it but it's perfectly normal and many decent persons are into it. I would never support an empire. It doesn't matter if it's the Russian empire, American empire, Chinese empire or European empire. The bigger the empire is, the smaller the common man (less freedom, easy target for a police state).
