Pippo deserve to be in the Azzurri.
Last year all togeder serie A and CL he scored more than Vieri.
The point is that Vieri, Del Piero and Inzaghi togeder are a bit a mess cause all of them are players who prefer to stay near to the area and try to score, that's why at the end the best formation is Totti + 2 of them; cause Totti play more in the back and use to play more 4 the teammates and to do assists. But Totti isn't in the match so let's hope the 3 above will do well cause it looks that they will all play :)
Btw, isn't true that Pippo isn't so popolar here... he is not so popolar true Juve fans but he's a Milan idol exately like Del Piero 4 Juve, Totti 4 Roma and Vieri 4 Inter.

Really when i was over at italy its more of maldini (ofcourse everyone parises him)
thats great! :)
i know pippo is an amzing player with all the skills and i get what u mean but see delpiero is a creative striker so i think Dp and piippo will work ..or dp and vieri..although vieri scored alot for italy im not really fond of him..i prefer pippo ..and ofcourse The one and only Del piero...

Trap's probable line-up:

Buffon
Panucci Nesta Cannavaro Zambrotta
Camoranesi Zanetti Tacchinardi
Del Piero
Corradi Inzaghi

This is a surprise for me as I was expecting Trap to go on the defensive, but apparently he has different plans. I noticed that in the first half of the Juve-Empoli match, Del Piero played in a deeper role than usual and he distributed the ball well, so hopefully he'll do the same on Saturday.

My main worry is that Panucci is starting ahead of the likes of Oddo and Birindelli, and the midfield looks a little bit unbalanced although Zambrotta will probably add some width to it when he gets down the flank.

Yes Maldini also, of course, and Nesta too.

I also think that DP+Pippo is ok and also DP+Vieri and Vieri+Pippo but I doubt on the 3 togeder. Cause none of them can really play in a "fantasista role" they are all "penalty area guys". But now Totti is injured so this is probably the best solution with the player who Trap called up.

Fantasista weare did you find out that Vieri won't play? What happened to him??? He is not injured! If this time he won't be in the match again it really meas that he do not give a s..t of the NT. Cause this match is foundamental and Vieri is the one who really can make the difference!:fero:

An article on Football Italia said that DP would play behind Corradi and Inzaghi so obviously Vieri must be injured.

Vieri injured himself sunday against Modena. I understand you feel sad if Vieri wont play against Wales, but to say that he dont give a sh!t about NT is plain wrong.

This is what Vieri said two days ago:

VIERI: "I'M FEELING BETTER, I'LL DO EVERYTHING TO PLAY NEXT SATURDAY"
Tuesday, 02 September 2003 - FLORENCE - (ANSA) - ''It's becoming more and more difficult to play. It's a massacre. Referees should protect important players more." From the Azzurri retreat in Coverciano Christian Vieri spoke this afternoon about the harsh play on the pitch. Indeed, the Inter striker is not training with the national side due to an injury sustained in Sunday's victory against Modena.

"We've been speaking about it among us players for a while, it must be alerted and someone must listen to us. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well, today I'm feeling better. I will do everything to play next Saturday."

Today i read from Gazzetta that he was training just 10 minutes because he felt pain in his left knee.

Hopefully he will be okay at saturday! Oh, and Cristiano Zanetti has some problems also. That´s not so bad news to NT, because Gattuso is better.

Ciao,
Tommi

I really feel that if Inter was playing this weekend, Vieri WOULD play. I am a Vieri fan, but I feel his commitment to the NT is minimal.

We REALLY need Vieri to play on Saturday, without him, I fear that we will lose !!

This situation with injured players and their replacements is starting to worry me. Didnt we show last time that with Inzaghi and Gattuso in there against Wales WE LOST !!! This team needs Totti and Vieri, and we could sure as hell get rid of Trap !!

I'm just waiting for Trap's next BRILLIANT (STUPID) move !!!!

Who cares if Vieri doesn't play.
Italy have loads of great strikers. They are the last team in the world (except Brazil maybe) that can complain if they'r missing a striker.

Inzaghi, Corradi, Di Vaio, Del Piero, Miccoli, Montella, Delvecchio, Cassano...

His commitment with NT is minimal? Oh please, give me a break! You havent seen yet how much he loves to represent his country? You havent read how he feels to play with his NT?

How come you are not accusing Totti as well? He is always injured, but still he should play or otherwise he is faking his injuries? Would DP or whoever play if he would be injured? No, of course not. It´s stupid (from anyone) to risk this whole season or perhaps even career and play if one is injured.

Ciao

Trap has Vieri doubt

-------------------------------

Christian Vieri is a major doubt for Italy’s crucial qualifier against Wales because of a knee injury.

The Inter striker resumed full training on Thursday but was forced to pull out of a practice match after just 15 minutes.

"I was feeling fine when I was running in a straight line but once I started to strike the ball and change direction I felt pain," said the forward.

That news comes as a massive blow to boss Giovanni Trapattoni who is already without the injured Francesco Totti.

Should Vieri not be available for selection then his place will be taken by Marco Delvecchio of Roma or Lazio’s Bernardo Corradi.

Chievo midfielder Simone Perrotta will also miss the weekend tie but may be available for Wednesday’s trip to Serbia & Montenegro.

Trap is likely to replace Perrotta with Juventus’ Alessio Tacchinardi alongside Cristiano Zanetti, even if the latter didn’t train today.

The Inter midfielder is being hampered by a problem to his left foot. Should he not be passed fit then Milan’s Gennaro Gattuso could win a recall.

The Azzurri are desperate to beat the Welsh in order to take control of their European Championship qualifying group.
