I doubt that, with Diego we can play an easy football, he's more like Del Piero but more into playmaker role, with Nedved alongside him this will turn into some nice attracting football IMO.
Agreed.

Nedved's entire play revolves around being able to cut in.

Running exactly where Diego is.
This will be applied only if Diego plays as a classic playmaker; in front of the defensive midfielder. But, I think that the latter will have more work to do on the right flank; neither a true winger nor a number 10.

if we do get Diego i think seven means that he will take over the midfield, hence all other players are accessories not to mention nedved drifts down the middle ergo the clutter. Diego/Riquelme need speedy wingers so it ought to be

Buffon

Grygera Milito Chiellini Molinaro

Marchioni Tiago Zanetti

Diego

- -------Del piero

- Gilardino

Trez wouldnt fit in this formation we need a holder a la Zlatan

Grygera----Barzagli----Milito-----Chiellini
-----------Nocerino---Almiron--------------
----Camo-------Tiago----------Nedved (Del Piero)----
-------------Trezeguet(Iaquinta)--------------

This is the only formation that will definitely balance our squad players given their characteristics. Given that we actually acquire both Milito and Barzagli, they should start as CB, or Criscito can play next to Chiellini if we are not content with bringing in a second costly CB after Milito. The back 4 is pretty much set with Grygera as RB (that's why we bought him) and Chiellini as LB. The rest will be decided by the end of the transfer market.
I've watched Nocerino in all of Italy U21 games, he's technically wayyy above Gattuso so I don't know why some of us are comparing the two of them. Maybe they're similar in their determination and grit. But Nocerino is a MUCH better passer of the ball, although he's a bit worse to Rino when it comes to defending (well, not so many DM's are better than Gattuso at this anyway). So Nocerino and Almiron should play ahead of the back 4 offering defensive support and distribute the ball. We can't copy Milan's style because Almiron is not anything like Pirlo (I would say there's not a single player in the world who plays like Pirlo).
Tiago, Camoranesi and Nedved (rotating with Del Piero) will be creative and explosive enough with speed (neddy), skills (Camo) and vision (Tiago). When you combine the three of them up front your midfield will be complete, and they won't have to worry so much about leaving defensive lapses when you have two box-to-box central midfielders playing right behind them (maybe with Almiron in a more-advanced-role).
Absolutely, we don't need Diego or VDV or anything else because they would be a waste of money, or we'll need to change the entire system to adapt their style of play. I like them, but with the players we're signing and bringing back, how would fit them all in the field?? Imperatively, we have no pure destroyer in the middle so how would you play Diego or VDV, especially when their defensive attribute is almost 0 ? Some of you even put something like a diamond midfield with Tiago covering the defense letting Diego playing magical tricks all over the field. That midfield will get skinned by almost every tough Serie A midfields.
Lastly, I know most of you would disagree, but playing Del Piero alone up front is like suicide, because he's not meant to be played in such a position. I prefer Trezeguet, but he mysteriously disappeared last season, and likely to be on his way out. Iaquinta is much more mobile, and I have doubts over his finishing touch. We'll see when the transfer market is over, but I would definitely field our players in such a formation to balance the squad out.
a potential 2nd string team formation
-----------------Mirante(or 2nd goalie)--------------
Zebina-------Boumsong------Criscito------Molinaro
-------------Marchisio-------Zanetti------------------
-----Salihamidzic----------------Palladino-----------
-----------Del Piero----------Iaquinta---------------
Still very good if you ask me.

Good post and I agree with pretty much everything. However, I do think we can play a 4-3-3 with the players we have along with potentially the players we will have.

Buffon

Zebina - Barzagli - Milito - Chiellini

Tiago - Nocerino - Almiron

Camoranesi - Nedved

Trezeguet

Or Del Piero instead of Nedved.

A typical Dutch 4-3-3, I love it. Iaquinta can replace either Camoranesi or Trezeguet also.
