Our shape let us double up on their wingers, something our 352 totally lacked last time. It sucked, but we were clearly playing to stop them and hit on counters. That was the plan and when it didn't work we went to plan b which was pretty good.

And plan b is how we have to start the game over there.

Yep, if we wanted to counter, Morata would've been a must-field.

But can't fault Allegri too much, in the first half (especially first 25 minutes), all our passes were just way-off technically. We would've struggled with every set-up.
I get it, the setup was probably not as bad as we all saw, however, that setup lead to the players not being able to string passes from midfield, because there weren't any players to pass to..I really felt that Max wanted to get a lucky 1-0 off a counter for the game, but that's really dangerous and we had 2 midfielders who isn't known to dribble past players vs Bayern's really aggressive mids, plus both weren't fully fit.

I really do hope we get it right in Munchen, both in terms of gameplan as well as the players we start!

agree with her, only problem I see is that this is not a new phenomena, this even happened on lippi and capello's era, so I wonder what actually is the problem, is it unconscious mental problem in the club as a whole? I'm talking about the problem which is this team too often sit back and pinned down against (mainly) on par or better euro teams. This is why I also dislike the whole grinta + defense mentality thing because as far as I has been watching this club in european matches, it too often not working and we at times looked like some amateur club and too often rely on luck than behaving like big club in many european matches, prime case of example is the thing against bayern at home, with bayern defense even got to our half while we looked like some relegation level club, right... some of you would obviously think and said it was bayern... but I have to remind you that we did the same against freaking celtic! heck I still remember the same shit we displayed against liverpool (the team that was way below our level at that time) under capello... or even against real and barca when we had prime nedved at that 2003 competition (we were pinned back at bernabeu and especially at camp nou where we had a miracle).

sure when it's working it feel good, but was it actually working? I mean we only got to the finals but not actually won it, don't say luck because we are holding the record for most lost cl final, also what I've said to you that the history prefer bolder (read : attacking, flair and fancy) teams when it come to winning CL, and don't you see the same pattern over and over again? that we far too often bent over and pinned back against various level of opponents in european matches? while obviously I'm not following other top clubs, I have this feeling that we are the only top club that is doing this all this time, or at very least the one most often do this.

When Marchisio is fit, I am pretty sure this is what he will play:

----------------------Buffon------------------------

---------Barzagli----Bonucci----Chiellini----------

Alves----Pjanic----Marchisio----Pogba----Sandro

---------------Dybala----Mandzukic---------------

In a back 4 situation, Allegri would bench Sandro for Evra and bench Barzagli for Khedira:

-----------------Buffon----------------

Alves----Bonucci----Chiellini----Evra

---Khedira----Marchisio----Pogba----

-----------------Pjanic-----------------

---------Dybala-------Mandzukic------

What I am not so clear about is who plays in Marchisio's position while he recovers. Will Pjanic go there in the 352? Will there be a new player who plays there? That remains to be seen.

I just hope we get a better forvet than Mandžukić.
