it would be good to see Diego in a CM position next to a destroyer like Momo in a 4-4-2 so Del Capitano can do his magic in his usual position

Germany used that. Spain played 433 like barca.

Defense
Busquets - Alonso
Xavi
Iniesta -------------Pedro
Villa
Not really.

It could be argued that they played some sort of 4-3-3, but Spain's 4-3-3 has very little in common with Barca's.

Barca play with lot's of width, while Spain only really had Ramos for that.

Spain play with two holding players, while Barca only use one.

Barca also move the ball much faster.

So what are the vital acquisitions for the team up to now? A LB, a CB, a RW and a poacher?
a DL and a CB for sure.for the wings im not so sure,we already have 6 wingers and only one slot for a foreigner.about the striker i want a healthy trez instead of anyone.

We could get by, still show massive improvement on last season's abysmal showing, if we add just a decent left back to the squad and go with what we have now...The LEFT BACK position is by far now the most obvious weakness in our squad. So its that role which I see as still ESSENTIAL TO IMPROVE.

Other than this...another centre back would be useful, someone with experience and quality. Then we will have 2 players fighting for 2 centre back positions. Its optimum to have two for every role in the formation. keeps the starters on their toes...but this only works IF we have a manager who is prepared to go with FORM and CONDITIOn, not just reputation.

On the wings, we have martinez and pepe...but as Camo looks like he is on his way out, who else is there??? Lanzafame...and possibly Giovinco.

Our attack really looks lame, other than if Trez can stay fit for the season. While Iaquinta can huff and puff, and he is definitely harder to handle than Amauri, neither of them have true quality. And with DP dying fast, who does that leave to challenge Trez for the main striker role???? Immobile???

LB- essential
CB- desired
rw- desired (krasic?)
target man/ goal scorer - desired (dzeko?)

He isn't really a second striker either. It would be nice to see Ale start with whomever the other striker will be. Diego is a great footballer, and would be wonderful in the midfield. He doesn't have that physicality Sissoko has, but he would be great on the pitch. And it would be preferable to have Il Capitano on the pitch as well.

They started out with 442, but changed it to 433. You might say it is very different from Barca, but it is still quite similar imo. When barca play iniesta on the left (which they do quite often) they also play to holding midfielders. I agree that Barca play faster, but that could just be the lack of games the national team have together. You are right about the widt though, but I think that is just because they lack a player to create width on the left.

I could see a 433 with this juve.

Defense
Melo/Sissoko
Marchisio-Diego
Krasic/Camo-------------Gio/Martinez
Striker

With Diego like a Xavi light, and lots of players and movement in fron of him.

Barca have been playing with less and less width as the season went on, when Guardiola started playing Messi in the middle. The fullbacks providing the width.

You could say Alonso kind of played Iniesta's role in Barca, while Iniesta played Messi's. Or rather even Alonso in Xavi and Xavi in Iniesta's... Anyway I agree both should be appreciated seperately, the similarities are clearly there though.

Another option for LW is De Ceglie, probably the position he would perform best in. He has a good cross and the less defending he needs to do the better he is going to look.

Iago is another player who may be able to step it up..not sure why he hasnt been given a go already.

Pepe
Martinez
Camoranesi looks set to stay
De Ceglie
Giovinco
Salihamidzic
Lanzefame
Iago

We actually have a lot of wingers, but none are all that good.

Pepe is just a runner, he would do well if we had enough ballplayers around him. which we do not have.

Martinez is unknown quality, has it all to prove.

Camoranesi isn't sure to stay and injured all the time.

De Ceglie has a decent cross, but other than that he is very average.

Giovinco isn't considered as winger, probably.

Salihamidzic doesnt have the legs anymore.

Lanzafame is skillful, but mediocre.

Iago isn't included in the squad.

Looking good isn't it :p.

:sergio:

it's very simple people.diego and ale cant be fielded together.
diego is more of a deep lying forward that a MC.

a formation with diego as MC + ALE + main striker + wingers is very very vulnerable.maybe on PES but not in real world.wake up

yeah and it just wont happen, there is no room to play DP and diego together anyway. Plus, why would you put together a strategy that involves a 36 almost 37 year old as being a starter and a key in the team? Would be stupid.

Diego will start as the deep forward....with a good striker who plays all season and another good winger, we will look very good.
