What freightens me about Turkey is how high the tensions would rise.
What a massive decision that nearly half the population voted against. And discounting foreign voted, seems the domestic turks are in the majority ?
If anything, the ones who'd vote "no", now know that they arent really a minority

Why isnt this stuff 2/3 majority to pass at least ?...

Istanbul is the only city I love without ever having been to. Only from what i've heard/seen of it it seems like the perfect place to fall in love for.

Turkey, what a shame really.
Istanbul was my first trip outside of the country which I took with my dad. He went to grad school there in late 60s so he knew the city very well. It is truly an amazing place.
I think despite the vote today Istanbul will remain a lovely place. Some things are hard to destroy even for crazy autocrats.

What a shame really to see democracy fail...
What a shame to see the people to willingly handle the power from them to one man...
At least its their choice to have a tyrant, unless of course the result is staged, because the difference is small enough, at any case, it was their fault to allow it come so close.
Some ppl just need to learn from their mistakes, even if this president will not become a tyrant, the next one will be, or the next and then, they will understand and then they will remeber what they have lost...

RIP whatever democracy turkey had left

Its very nice to see Erdogan thinks his people are a bunch of idiots who cant elect the right people, and they agreed with him by voting yes
Then why do you sound upset? Don't let these Uruks ruin your mood.

Way closer than i thought it would be.

"German" votes to seal the deal :touched: @lgorTudor

More like Turkey adopts Iran's system. Not much swapping.
Turkish state tradition is one of the oldest, let's say they are returning to roots.

Landfills were exploding, birds were falling from sky, newspapers were giving people masks to protect themselves from pollution and you should have been ok with spending days without water and electricity to enjoy this truly amazing place before that 'crazy aucrat' elected as mayor in 94.

Funny how these people have such a big interest in Turkey & want to influence its politics, but have no interest whatsoever in actually living there.

I guess I'm just not smart enough to understand certain things.
These people are only here for social services. Disgusting leeches.

Foreign roach voting behaviour is easily explained with lack of education+integration, leading to an 'us or them' mindset and inferiority complex. As a result they are susceptible to nationalist and anti-democratic values, especially if those values are contrary to the society they feel frozen out from.

Looks like 49% of the voters do not like those roots very much.
And my first trip to Istanbul was August 1994. Water was a big problem but I don't remember seeing any bird falling from the sky. And Istanbul was still amazing.

So basically

A extremely slight majority in Turkey voted no. These are the people who'll have to endure Erdogan.
Thanks to a grand majority of 'yes' voters who live in other , democratic and civilised, countries, and have no impact of the shit Erdogan is doing whatsoever.

Our rights were never guaranteed. Europe and US were perfectly ok with supporting terror and staging military coups which claimed lives of thousands. Cut the hypocrisy.
How does it feel to have absolutely nothing to say anymore in your country ?
I suppose, next would be re-entering the death penalty. Then all opposition are goddamn Gülen followers. Which are traitors. Traitors need execution.
You cant even revolute your way out of this. All the possible take-over candidates are death.

Every single civilised country has moved from omnipotent leaders to democratic voting systems, and with varying checks and balances.

You moved away from it.
