OK, so reaching 20k posts is probably some kind of milestone. Even if posters like Jack, Andy, and Burke already lapped me twice. (Did I actually just say "lapped me"? :shifty:.)

And here I joined Sept 22, 2003 with this lousy post on the Roma-Juve Sunday night match:
http://www.juventuz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=235652#post235652

But it goes to show... in life just as in sex as an 80-year-old man (or as an AC Milan player, take your pick): it's not always how fast you get there, but that you managed to get there at all.

Some of the finest posters here blow their wad all at once (see: Don Bes :D), some just keep blowing and can't stop themselves (see: Jack, Andy, Burke), and some are legends of time and distance running (see: Martin of absolute primary importance, Graham, The Pado, etc.).

Now tradition would have it that this post is where I would thank the Academy (i.e., you all) for all your support, great posts, humor, and camaraderie here -- and dare I say, even friendship. Then I'd go on for about 200 lines listing all of you guys -- people I chat with a lot here and even people I just barely know. And then would follow the customary practice of a lot of bickering, hurt feelings, and arguments about who got listed and who got left out, who was listed before whom, etc.

Sorry to disappointment, but I'm not going to do things that way. Instead, I think all of you should take your own bow in this thread: yes, please feel free to do so. And yes, I include the people who hate my guts as well as the people I "chum" with. :D

And just maybe I might chime in with the posters of the past, and present, who may not post here much anymore -- and may not even be able to -- but deserve some props for their contributions over the past 5 1/2 years.

So here's to you all. :pint: And I don't mean that as a cop-out. Because if there's one thing I like about this place -- besides Juve commiseration and shooting the breeze with non-Juve fans alike -- it is the opportunity to meet and interact with people of all walks of life with different perspectives, cultures, and homes from my own. Even if we don't always agree.

Cheers, all. And may I live to see my 40k milestone. :p

Cheers Greg, pleasure to have you around, my man.

Even in spite of the fact you don't share my view on, how should I say, historical events. :p

Congrats Greg! May your 20.000 next posts be as good as the ones before! (and better than your first post: Zambrotta was definitively not inspired!) :pint:

Greg, you're a rare poster: level headed, knowledgeable and insightful. You add immensely to these forums. Well done on the milestone. I'm rather lagging behind myself.

I was scrolling down the "new posts" page and saw this thread out of the corner of my eye.

Thanks, Mark, Elvin, Aaron, Angela, Geof, Chris, Al, DB, John...! :pint:

Yeah, I have my moments when I lag on my posts and still come back more.

And Aaron, perhaps you should hear about my new $20k Juventuz bailout program. I figure if it works for Larry Flint...
