As for the examples of Ibra and Falcao, Ibra suffered an ACL injury at the age of 35, pretty much past his peak. Besides, his game hardly every relied on pace or dribbling past defenders.
Falcao suffered an ACL in 2005 and then again a decade later with Monaco. This was again when he wasn't good or explosive as his Atletico career.
Zaniolo on the other hand has suffered two ACL injuries within the space of an year. Probability is high that it could come back to haunt him again.
That's not to say he won't ever have a successful career. If he's determined and can take care of his body with the right amount of dedication, he could still be successful, but he has to modify his game to the point that he doesn't have to rely on his explosiveness or running past defenders to be effective.
If we're trying to sign him to accommodate him on the wing, then please avoid at all costs.
