i didn't forget how he sold vidal and pogba in their prime for much less than their worth and buried all of it to fucking higuain.
pogba was a world record sale back then, and he wanted to leave at all costs. it was a good sale. the fact that vidal was sold was truly criminal, regardless of the price. you're right about higuain, he was way too expensive and the midfield wasn't properly addressed back then, even though pjanic was a bargain.

bottom line with marotta is that our squad was always competitive and sustainable. you can cherry pick debatable decisions and you always will, but inda wouldn't be champions and we'd be en route to defend our 10th title should marotta remain.

I'm sure he's well aware of those signings.
not sure about it. coping mechanisms are a bitch. once a chick started to talk to me on the street. i was like the fuck is her, but she asked me about my dog, so i was like yeah, i should certainly know her somehow. it turned out she was the bff of my ex wife, we used to hang out a lot together ~10 years before, but my brain decided that i don't need that information anymore. turk's subconscious might feel the same: he doesn't need to remember anything positive about marotta.

How was signing Higuain a mistake? Yes, he was expensive but he got us passed Inter for the Scudetto and passed Monaco in the semi’s. Berna and Costa were more harmful

We also recuperated 18m on Higuain when we signed Ronaldo
We also bought him from our direct rivals and he delivered us two good seasons before being shipped out to tactical compensate for Ronaldo.

Pogba’s value has absolutely nose dived since we sold him and he has spent the last 5 years of his career injured. Marotta signed him for 0 and sold him for 100m - yep, terrible decision.

Vidal was not sold in his prime, he was sold after multiple injuries and had peaked 2 years before. He went on to be fairly average, hardly a transfer that we should regret.

Higuain had just scored 35 goals for our direct rivals in the league. Everyone on the forum at that time was absolutely delighted with that move, you included. He also did some good work here until he was pushed out. Of course that money could have been spent differently but we went on to win multiple league titles, we may not have if Napoli would have had higuain in their squad

As for the examples of Ibra and Falcao, Ibra suffered an ACL injury at the age of 35, pretty much past his peak. Besides, his game hardly every relied on pace or dribbling past defenders.

Falcao suffered an ACL in 2005 and then again a decade later with Monaco. This was again when he wasn't good or explosive as his Atletico career.

Zaniolo on the other hand has suffered two ACL injuries within the space of an year. Probability is high that it could come back to haunt him again.

That's not to say he won't ever have a successful career. If he's determined and can take care of his body with the right amount of dedication, he could still be successful, but he has to modify his game to the point that he doesn't have to rely on his explosiveness or running past defenders to be effective.

If we're trying to sign him to accommodate him on the wing, then please avoid at all costs.

Besides when I look at Zaniolo, I see a millennial pussf** in him. What your thoughts on this @Bianconero81?

I can't think of a footballer who picked up 3 ACLs. I think only Beppe Rossi and his career died immediately.

I'm a Zaniolo fapper but the price we pay for him as to account for this extremely obvious risk. 40M is even too much I think.

I won’t go higher than 30 tbh, they can include 20m in bonuses for all I care as long as they are based on appearances. Hell make it loan+option that turns to obligation based on the number of apps.

His injury record isn’t bad this season btw, better than Dybala’s for example so if he continues the season like this I would take the risk.

40m doesn’t seem very likely imo, especially if he pulls a Loca/Vlahovic and doesn’t entertain any other clubs.
