To have Dzeko for at least 2 more years is not short term. He will be 36 by the end of his current contract, and if he does come here, his new contract will likely be for longer than 2 years. So let's not forget that. You never see a player get transferred with the same exact contract that he already came with.

Another thing to consider. Morata at 10 million, assuming that he wouldn't lower his salary, with the tax laws in place, could be financially much more advantageous to us than Dzeko at the 9.2 million or whatever contract he agrees to.
Reportedly Dzeko's salary is gross while Morata's is net. I don't want any of them btw and I don't think we will be able to get rid of Higuain.

Milik is definitely the best option for the back up CF role. Dzeko although good is the wrong age and Morata has been poor for a few years and earns a lot of money.

I’d love to see us take a bit of a risk though.... I really like Alfredo Morelos over at Rangers a real hardworking, strong and quick CF who occupies defenders and has an eye for goal. Still young but apparently available for 15-20m. Granted he gets sent off 5 times a year but he’ll mature!!
I'm a big fan of Morelos but not convinced he'd ever be at the level for a top club. If he keeps progressing I think he could have a nice career and peak at a top Europa League level side e.g. Sevilla. Although 20m for Morelos as a backup v 40m for Milik...

I don't mind the idea of Dzeko at the right price and wages. It is certainly a short term fix but he is completely different from our other forwards and would be effective if we need to go long when chasing a game.

For a backup striker I'd like one who either runs in behind or is a physical target man (or can combine both if possible). Ronaldo, Dybala and Higuain all love to drop deep. It would be good to have another option.

Morelos? Hes a nut case. The montero of forwards
I wouldn't read too much into his red cards, he does some stupid things and deserves some but the refs in Scotland seem to have been hyped up by the media and usually can't wait to book him. He's also had a few rescinded and certainly has matured over the past year. People get away with far worse in the SPL without a red.

Higuain's father just said he will not be terminating his contract. He wants to stay.

Bad news continue to come in this Mercato.

We are probably in the worst situation in 10 years. Bad management and shit decisions in the past years are taking their toll.
