I think a lot of this is teams jockying for a post Messi/Ronaldo era to be marketable and the new top dogs. I see Barca dropping off pretty big after Messi. Madrid will remain top dogs but we are wanting to push to get in the top 3 money pool and honestly a big push now could seal it. Not sure if Neymar has to be that push as it could have just been Ronaldo. But in 2-3 years who will the fans latch onto? Probably not De Ligt but Neymar is a strong candidate
Dybala? Kean? Who's to say you can't win balon d'or playing for Juve anymore? Neymar is DONE at age 30. DONE. No thanks!

I agree. Of course you can win it. My whole point was that when you get a player like Ronaldo you are looking to build your brand and world recognition. Its working but now the long term plan needs to be there as well as our growth. Not saying we need Neymar for that just saying ronaldo max has 3 more years. Dybala will be proven/disproven this year IMO. Kean isnt someone at this point you bet the club prestige on and not sure if hes that marketable guy on the world stage. Agnelli is all about pushing Juve into that new branded club. He changed our uniforms, crest and is bringing in world stars for this purpose.

Having said that I think if Neymar is at least a small possibility we will look into it

We surely need a new superstar when CR7 leaves us. And preferably before. But signing Neymar now? With Cr7? Not even from a branding point of view does it make sense IMO. We are really strong with CR7. As long as he's top level sporting wise, we just need players to grow around him, not "replacing" his status with someone like Neymar. Neymar is not an athlete compared to CR7. He will decline (already starting) very soon, and won't be a balon d'or winner at all. If Dybala is rejuvenated with Sarriball, he and someone like Mbappe or Hazard at Real will be Balon d'or contenders in the future. Neymar is already starting to lose his place in the Brazil NT. Not because he's not good enough, but because of the sacrifices you have to make in order to make him flourish.

PSG apparently refused a Coutinho+Rakitic+40m offer from Barca. I'm not sure part exchange with Dybala is feasible financially.
Plus, fuck Neymar.

Holy crap. I just saw the De Ligt payment terms. We can totally buy another player. The payment is due in 5 years? wtf. We didn't pay 75M, we paid much less. Transfer inflation has averaged 17.5% over the last 6 seasons. If it even averages 1/2 that, it is the equivalent of paying 50M.

Hate Neymar's attitude but there is no denying his footballing skills. Him on the left of a 4-3-3 with Ronaldo and Costa would be lethal to say the least. Easy CL favorites at that point. But the financial burden would almost certainly put enormous pressure on our club.

Same thing was said about Ronaldo last year.
