Nice cherry picking stats to fit the narativ.Messi has better goal to games played ratio than Ronaldo, he has better assists to games played ratio.

Portugal became European Champions despite Ronaldo having a shit tournament.

Stats aside Messi is clearly the more influentiel player in the overall game. He creates, dictates play and scores. Ronaldo is one of the best of all times but he is clearly second to Messi.
he has better ratios because he scored 3-4 goals against crap teams in the group stages. in the knock outs, he went scoreless in 39 out of 62 games he played in. that tells you how and where most of his goals come from. Ronaldo beat him in scoring and assisting despite playing his 1st 6-7 years as a right midfielder in Fergies 442. Messi, while playing on the wing in his early year, was always 1. on the right, where he could always cut in to his stronger foot and 2. it was in a 433, where he was playing much closer to the attackers. when Ronaldo started playing on the left of a 433 and as a striker, its a no contest, especially in the knock outs.

Portugal wouldnt even made it out of the group stage without Ronaldo. heck, they wouldnt even qualify. they needed 2 goals from him to draw Hungary to even get to the knock out stage. from there on, it was all defense on one end, and hope Ronaldo does something on the other. which he did against Croatia and Wales, and when he didnt against Poland, they needed Pks to advance. him having a shit tournament is a classic hater opinion. but its not only the 2016 tournament, he has played for Portugal in a by far superior confederation to Messi. final-QF-SF-win. those are his results. Messi had 2 back to back tournament handed to him in 15 and 16 when he had the clearly best team in SA, and he still couldnt deliver. home court in 2011 as the best player in the world. nada. he will go down as a failure for his NT, while Cristiano will be remembered as a legend forever in Portugal

maybe you could say more talented, but better? all this playmaking, dictating and whats not wasnt enough to get them past Roma this season. he got shut down vs inter. he got shut down vs Chelsea. he got shut down vs us. so believe it or not, when he faces a good team that wont leave him all the space he could possibly ask for, he suddenly isnt as effective as he is when hes playing in La Liga, or the Leverkusens and Arsenals of the world

He has 40 assist and 65 goals in 125 games for Argentina. I would call that pretty good. Also very close to Ronaldo stats for Portugal.

Clearly both players are better for their clubs were the system is build to get the best out of them.
he went scoreless in 8/8 WC knock out games. he went scoreless in 6/10 Copa America knock out games. Ronaldo isnt any better in WC and Euro knock outs, but:
-he played for the inferior team in the superior confederation
-he managed to deliver a title

CR>Messi

No, not Golovin again. He is the exact type of player Allegri wouldn't want. Where would he fit in our formation?

We should try to sign Thiago Alcantara. He wants out.

I don't know where Ronaldos company is registered. Since the dude is a tax fraud he'll most liekly have a scheme of offshore companies.
Ireland, which then funnels to Cayman lol

    It's very confusing.

He also sold his image rights for an upfront payment right before the "beckham law", which prevents taxation on foreign earnings, was modified to exclude athletes. Ie: He earned like 75M with a huge upfront payment as part of his 2014 tax return just before the law was repealed. Those rights were from 2015-2020. Those entities then would negotiate with sponsors lol.

Italy apparently has a new tax law that protects athletes from taxes on offshore earnings similar to the old Beckham law that was introduced. I don't know how it works in England.

    To put simply:
Suppose Ronaldo earned 100M Gross, with 50 being from salary. Let us assume that his salary is his only domestic income.

    With the Beckham law:
The gross income would have been taxed at a 24% flat rate up to 600k eur, and then marginal rates after. And the foreign income would not be taxed. Now it is all taxable at the marginal rate.

    To illustrate
So right now in Spain, if Ronaldo earns 100M gross, he may pay 50M in tax.

But in Italy, a new law was passed similar to the Beckham law, which levies a flat tax of 100k on all offshore earnings, meaning that Ronaldo would be taxed like this in Italy:
    Domestic Earnings (Salary) = 50x.5=25M +
    Offshore Earnings (Ads) = 100k
    = 25.1M in taxes.

I do not know how it works in England or Germany.

Darmian would be fine as a backup. It wasn’t that long ago when everyone was on his nuts. Man U hasn’t developed anyone properly recently, so I wouldn’t dismiss him so quick.

    Trust Marotta. He’s earned it.
